Be Prepared
It’s true what Scar and those weird hyenas sang about in the Lion King: you’ve got to be prepared.
If you’re going to give your best at anything, it never comes by “off the cuff” work, or “improv” effort. The best things I’ve ever seen accomplished around here happen because of a great deal of preparation and hard work.
On Saturday, Christy and Nathaniel had to stay up in the L.A. area to shoot a commercial–so Noah and I went down to San Diego by ourselves and spent the entire day together hanging out. But we didn’t go do fun-time-type things–I had to work most of the day. So we hung out together around work and going back and forth from appointments so I could be ready for Sunday–and we stayed in my office until 8:30pm Saturday night working on all types of things. Not the most fun thing for a 6 year-old to do, but he was a TROOPER.
And so was his Nintendo D.S. (don’t judge). But I was prepared. More than I can remember in a long time–and it was incredibly helpful for the services and rehearsals that took place that day.
We have a LOT going on, and my lack of preparation as a leader will make or break us at this point. I’ve GOT to be prepared.
And so do you.Be prepared!

Thanks for the Lion King lesson of the day…which of the two boys are digging the Disney flick right now??
What you say is true; however, now I’ll be thinking about the clever lyrics of this song rather than sleeping. It was by way of this song that I learned the words “sordid”, “meticulous” and “tenacity”.
@klappyanne - it’s actually neither…and we haven’t watched the movie in AGES. It’s just that anytime I think about being prepared, I always think of that stupid hook-line of the song…be prePAAAARED.
I’m a weirdo, I know…
@sc0tlas - sorry to keep you awake! And kudos to the lyricist that expanded your vocabulary!
What do you do when you can’t CONCENTRATE because the pressure isn’t immediate enough?
