  • Kanye West: Biggest Jerk on Planet Earth

Oh, oh, oh….there are so many other words and names that come to my mind when I think about what Kanye West did to Taylor Swift last night at the VMA awards.  Terrible, ungodly, names and words…but I am exercising self-control…discipline…and reSTRAINT!!!

I’m sure you’ve heard about all of this already (unless you weren’t on facebook or twitter at all last night) since with these new social networks we have via the interwebs the world has become smaller and news travels at the speed of thumb.  How quickly does one text, “Kanye is a (BLEEP)” and hit send on their smart-phone? About 5.5 seconds quick, that’s how…

Well, the news is saying that Kanye “stole her moment”–and while this is true–he did so much more than that.  He showed utter disrespect for a fellow artist publicly—NO—forget the artist thing—he showed utter disrespect and disregard for a fellow HUMAN being publicly; his actions are just detestable, absolutely detestable.  It makes me sick to my stomach to see someone so incredulously put down another.  Kanye, you really tick me off.

And to Beyonce I say: well done, dude.  It takes someone that is incredibly confident in themselves to sacrifice their time in the spotlight for another.  Super, dooper, pooper classy, B-lady.  You have made a lifelong fan out of me with your display of kindness and love towards another.  Rock on, Beyonce–you are the world’s #1 diva, but you are also awesome-sauce.

If you want to be shocked, watch this video of the MTV VMA awards last night.  That old quote, “This is your brain on drugs” is all I can think of when I try to figure this out…

If I ever meet Kanye face to face, I might punch him right in the kisser.

  • Well you do live in Burbank, so your chances of running into a celeb is higher than the average person’s – but think before you punch – he can afford really good lawyers!  Beyonce rocks.

  • @klappyanne - good point, good point…it still might be worth it though…

  • It is hard to watch something that embarrassing. Taylor Swift held up rather well for someone who had to be totally confused about what was going on

  • @trunthepaige - she really did.  Although the news was saying she was balling back stage…which, again…I wouldn’t blame her.  Poor thing…

  • @dsemsen - She is only 19 years old. How hardened to the jerks of this world could she really be

  • @trunthepaige - HA. I know…I feel so bad for her!

  • I wasn’t on FB or Twitter last night, so thanks for bringing this to my attention, Daniel. Wow! Kayne was way out of line, and didn’t help Beyonce at all with his words. I’m glad that she showed Taylor the kind of respect that was due another fellow artist…shows a lot of class to do that. I’m sure that no one in the VMA awards will give him much grief because it did get a lot of press, whether it was right or not. Did he really apologize already? Poor girl, she really does seem sincere.

  • ya.. he is so rude! that guy is just bursting with ego!

  • @singweallnoelle - his apology was NOT an apology…in fact, it was THE LAMEST apology I have ever heard.  More like just a statement of “sorry, but what i said was true!!” Basically…

  • Kayne’s apology last night:

“I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her
mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same
thing my mother would’ve said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics
about being a cheerleader and she’s in the bleachers! …………………… I’m in
the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!…………….. Beyonce’s
video was the best of this decade!!! I’m sorry to my fans if I let you
guys down!!!!! I’m sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor
2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I’m a
fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin’ the show at
the cribe right now cause…. Well you know!!!! I’m still happy for
Taylor!!!! Boooyaawww!!!! You are very talented!!!!! I gave my awards
to Outkast when they deserved it over me… That’s what
it is!!!! I’m not crazy yall, I’m just real. Sorry for that!!! I really
feel bad for Taylor and I’m sincerely sorry!!! Much Respect!!!!!”

Then today he deleted his apology and put this up instead:

I feel like Ben Stiller in “Meet the Parents” when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave… That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.”

  • This is a perfect example of how people who have power or celebrity think that they have the right to spout off their opinions at any moment, and that the world should care and adhere to what they say. It was quite possibly the most self-absorbed moment of a life that I have ever witnessed. Boooooooo.

  • I agree with you 100% and I would love to punch him in the kisser too!!!
