  • Munder-Difflin?? Vol. 2

I still haven’t decided on a name for my business, or even if I’m going to make up a business name…geez.

Some composers/orchestrators I know don’t have a business name that I know of…they just operate under their own name…I think. I have to do some more research on this.

That said, if I were picking a name for my business, my two favorites so far are “Semsen Scores” and “Semsen Music Services”.

    WHAT DO YOU THINK!?

  • “Semsen Scores!”  with the layup!  Which brings him in the lead…!

Semsen Music Services is nice.  So is your name, because then on a business card you can put like a hundred titles under it–composer, arranger, tenor-baritone, conductor, pianist, DJ services, ordinated priest, etc…

  • I do like Semsen Scores better out of the two – but I like Scores by Semsen even better…

  • semsen shoots, he scores.  which does not describe you and your sports career.  I’m just SAYING.  What about, “I’ll do whatever you need me to do and my name is Daniel Semsen, no not SIMPSON, S-E-M-S-E-N”.  That one’s my fave.

  • SEMSEN SCORES – Kenny Mitchell approves !!!

  • Semsen Scores – Alot!!!!!

  • “Semsen Scores” seems to be the favorite so far, but I disagree.  Besides sounding like a sports headline, it’s too restrictive: you’re not just an orchestrator, you’re a composer and arranger, too.  I vote for “Semsen Music Services,” except that I’d add your first name: “Daniel Semsen Music Services.”  More complete, and more personal as well.

  • I’d say Semsen Scores doesn’t remind me of sports but instead of something more awkward.  Not sure if that would get you more or less clientele!  Semsen Music Services does seem vague, like you could be selling tambourines.  I like Scores by Semsen actually.

  • I thought Semsen Scores sounded cute, but it did make me think of basketball – and I’m not sure “cute” is what you’re going for.  :o )  I like Scores by Semsen, too, but agree with your friend (above) who said it’s not quite complete in regard to the services you offer.

  • Just put Scores by Semsen as the title and then have some of what you offer as a smaller tag line and then your contact info.

    Scores by Semsen

    *composer *arranger *etc.

contact Daniel Semsen at bla bla bla bla

    There, done! =)

  • ^^of course all lines will be much closer and you will still have to design your card and pick your font…duhhhhh lol

  • I’m with Uncle Lee- the word “scores” is too limiting.  I think we need to keep looking.

  • Hm. Someone weird up there commented under my name. Hmph. Must have been my wife.

    Wellllllll….

It seems as thought out of these two (or not)…Scores by Semsen is the favorite. BUT.
The consensus is also that nothing so far is right.

    keeeep looking.

  • @UncleLeeA - Good thoughts–and you’re correct that I’m an orchestrator and composer–but I could write film scores  AND it could be taken that I make scores (physical scores) by doing copywork or orchestration. Right? So you have the all encompassing “film score” meaning the music for the film, then you have the paper score that a conductor would read. Scores by Semsen….

    eh.

I’m still not sold on it…

  • I think you should name your business… BETTER than the Beatles!

Oh, sorry– I just got so caught up in reading all that Beatle stuff from your more recent blog.  It was fascinating because even though I am older, I haven’t heard much of the Beatles, either.

More seriously though, I vote no on Semson Scores and yes on KEEP LOOKING.  :)

    Just my humble vote.

P.S.  I am practicing like CRAZY my MusicCalifornia stuff and being a good choir person. :)   Just so you know–so there! Ha!
