  • Fireproof YOUR FACE

Christy and I just got back from seeing the new movie Fireproof.

    Picture 1

    It was pretty good.
It’s hard to give a review of a movie like this one…it is so incredibly different from any other movie I’ve seen.
I would say that I recommend it to anyone that is married. Marriage is just taken so lightly nowadays, and this movie has a great message about the value of the commitment of marriage. It could potentially be a great ministry tool to churches all around the nation to heal hurting marriages and relationships. I was moved during a few of the scenes and some scenes were a tad cheesy–but overall, still, I would recommend it. There is too much good stuff in there…

Quick story: during one of the more tender scenes, Christy leans over to me and says, “The girl looks like she is CGI…you know…like from Shrek…”.
And of course, in a great twist of irony, I’m practically crying…so I lean over, “YOU ARE TOTALLY RUINING THIS MOMENT!!!!”

And that is the sensitive side of Daniel.
Don’t ever expect to see it in real life. Uh-uh. No…nope, nope…

    And now…the trailer…

  • You know, I don’t do a ton of movies hyped as Christian due to quality, but this one actually looks pretty good.

The quote about leading your heart instead of following it is excellent.

  • lol youre such a girl dude, but I laughed at that quick story of yours. I saw this trailer a few months ago since I tend to trailer search on the web (excited about tron2.0) if I’m bored, and I thought it was cheesy, but I think it had potential.

  • “It’s time to say I do to Fireproof?”

    Wow.

    Blarp.

  • Semsenocity?

    ltms. Nice.

  • That’s hilarious.  A tender moment, almost teary, yell at wife for ruining moment.  That’s great!

  • @marshallismyalias - I think it IS time for you to say I DO to Fireproof.

  • @skwillson - I know. I’m the perfect husband.

    HAHAHAHA

  • Fireproof my FACE?  No way, I’m not keen on diminishing my hotness, facial or otherwise…

  • Saw Fireproof yesterday with my wife.  It elicited laughs, tears and lots of memories of what an ass I was in my first marriage.  I notice you all use the word “cheesy” a lot, as if that is a great concern.  While I too strongly desire good quality in storyline, dialogue, and movie making, I would suggest looking beyond the low budget  — except for the Caleb character, not a one of the parts is done by professionals  –  and instead rejoice that some people (as a result of seeing this film) will honestly take up the “marriage dare” and get honest about changing themselves and loving their spouse instead of following through with divorce.  I wish I had been one of them a decade or two ago.

You’re totally right–my apologies for coming across negatively about the movie. Not at all. I actually liked it quite a bit, maybe even more than my wife did…ironically…hahaha

Sure, the film was not “big budget” by Hollywood’s standards…but given that, it was done very well. The message about marriage is outstanding and one that is BOUND to change peoples’ lives.

I had a friend that went to see a preview screening of the movie, and after the movie ended he apparently stood up in the theatre and said, “That is exactly where my marriage is right now…will somebody PLEASE pray for me and my wife…” and a bunch of people went down to lay hands on him and pray for him. Very cool stuff.

So anywho–I’m not trying to be negative about the movie, just real. For what it was, it was great, and I highly recommend it to my Christian friends.
