  • Movie Review #815

Hm. Perhaps no one noticed that last movie review was numbered with all of the secret numbers from a certain show?

    Or perhaps I am lame.

    Oh well.

Christy and I went to see Eagle Eye at Harkins on the way to SD.

    It was AWESOME.

It really felt like a summer blockbuster that got slammed with a late-September opening date (for whatever reason). It was great. It was NOT predictable, it was interesting, I was completely engaged in the story and the characters. It felt like they took special care to develop the character for each person. It felt whole and complete-unlike some of the movies I saw this summer (Hancock, X-Files).

Anyways. It’s a great movie. GREAT!
Check it out, but only if you like awesomeness.

    Has anyone seen Fireproof?

    And, of course…

  • We always see movies based on trailers, and I swear, they find the BEST 2 minutes of the movie, edit them together and show you the movie they SHOULD have made. This one looks good. Thanks for the rec.

  • You. Are. Crazy.

OK, Eagle Eye. I was actually quite riveted for the first half of the movie. I agree, I thought the character development was great, and the action was amazing – but as soon as I figured out what was going on (which I won’t share here so as to not ruin it for anyone else), I was like “Are you KIDDING me?” Laaaaaame. Lame-o. Lame lame lame.

  • @marshallismyalias - nonononononononononononononoNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    you are wrong.

That is how I felt when I saw THE HAPPENING. Bad payoff. However, for this movie–it did not affect me, because even though they revealed the enemy, there was still some mystery around it AND the whole last half of the movie was totally unpredictable. OH MY GOSH.

    You are an emotionless robot.

    The end.

  • I AM AN EMOTIONLESS ROBOT??? That is the funniest thing that has ever come out of your mouth, Daniel Heart of Stone Semsen.

I agree with you, I thought all the characters were great and there was some great emotional drama to the movie, but I just felt so let down when I figured out what was going on. I guess I was expecting something a lot cooler.

I think it’s funny that we feel the opposite way about Eagle Eye and about The Happening. The plot of The Happening didn’t bother me at all, because I still think that M Night Shyamalan purposely chose a ridiculous plot because that’s not what the movie was about. The movie was about and strictly about the human emotion. Eagle Eye, however, while it had great human emotion, should have had a super cool twist or government conspiracy or something. Nanny nanny boo boo boo boo.

  • I don’t like Shia La Beouf. The end.

  • Comedy: Daniel Semsen saying “You are an emotionless robot.”

    Irony and comedy.

  • @traviscottrell - I’m most emotional when I see great movies. HAHAHA…

  • Hence, my short story entitled: Daniel Cried at Hellboy 2.

  • just reading the banter makes for some fun entertainment…hillarious!!

  • I might have to go see it now – since you guys enjoyed it so much.  And we’re glad you guys made it to Fireproof.  You got my EM all about it, so you know how much we appreciated it.  We went with my folks, Preacher & Pat, and some friends.  Powerful stuff.  I hope lots of non-Christians see it, too, and can look past the film’s shortcomings to the good stuff that’s there.

  • @skwillson - yeah–we loved Eagle Eye. It was awesome.

  • I hated Eagle Eye. Just kidding, I loved it. Just kidding, it was ok, just kidding I didn’t even watch it, just kidding I’ve never heard of it, just kidding I’ve watched the trailer 457 times, just kidding it was 847, just kidding I think I saw it once and I laughed, just kidding, I don’t go to the theater, just kidding, just kidding…

Ok, so I haven’t seen it yet.  So don’t spoil it for me.
