  • …BAM!

    EDIT ADD:
Christy, Noah, and Nathaniel all got checked out at Kaiser and Nathaniel has a mild concussion.
They are OK other than that and on their way home now…

Christy and the kids were on the way to get Nathaniel’s headshots when…BAM. Out of nowhere they got rear-ended by a dude in a Corolla.
They were on the 134-101 interchange when it happened and Christy said it was a HUGE accident.
Like, none other that she’s ever been in.
    No warning.
No tap-tap. This was a BIGGIE. The other guy’s car had its airbags deployed–THAT’S how serious of a crash it was.
Surprisingly, the back of the Prius (a moment of silence for our favorite–and 10-day-old–little car), did not have a lot of damage to the back end that was noticeable to the naked eye.
But Christy was drinking a Starbucks that went EV-ER-Y-WHERE. It is all over the car…all over her…all over the kids. We’re talking major coffee spillage here.

So I was about to meet with a client to close a deal, but got the call and ran out the door to go meet them. The kids were slightly traumatized by the whole thing, but as far as we knew at the time, no blood…no broken bones…and everyone had caught their breath and settled down by the time I got there.

    CHP came…made a report…we are filing a claim, etc…

So after all the details were taken care of, they continued on their way to the headshot place, now late. But the kids started to not feel very good…
Christy called me a little bit later and Nathaniel was throwing up.

    **RED ALERT**

This is exactly what the CHP guy said “could” happen–and if DID happen–that we should go to the hospitol.

So Christy and the kids are on their way to Kaiser on their way home (they never took the pictures since Nathaniel was feeling so sick–had to reschedule for Friday).

Hopefully nothing big will be wrong, but they are getting examined…

    Please pray…

    I’ll keep you updated…

YIKES!!!! This is the SECOND rear-end accident we’ve had in the PAST SIX MONTHS.

All this to say…WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING ON THE FREAKING ROAD AND STOP REAR ENDING PERFECTLY NICE PEOPLE THAT ARE OBEYING THE TRAFFIC LAWS AND DRIVING SAFELY.

    Sorry…just had to say that.

    The end.

  • We’ll be praying for the family!!  Of course Christy would have Starbucks with her….what other drink would it be???

We also got 2 new bumpers on our van in a 6 month period – the 1st one from the drunk Marine & the 2nd one being rear-ended by a high schooler!!

  • Oh Daniel. I am thankful they are allright. I’m sorry for your new car’s interior but it can be cleaned. God must have been protecting them. What happened, anyway? Why did the guy rear end them I wonder??

  • Glad everyone is alright Daniel!

  • Daniel,

Just got back from our 30th anniversary dinner and movie (Dark Knight) and read your blog. We will be praying for your family. Praise Go no one was seriously hurt. Time for bed now – we will call you tomorrow late. Love, Mom & Dad.

  • Me =
    worst. son. ever.

**running sheepishly to the store to get a card or something**

  • Wow!  Glad everyone is gonna be ok.  Concussions aren’t funny except on TV…

“See ya later, Pan.”  “Dad?”  “It smells like chicken soup.”  “You can’t fire me, I don’t work in this VAN.”  “Danger.”

On the upside, now your car will always smell like Starbucks!  (Wait, it was going to anyway.)

  • Wow, I’m glad they’re all right!  A mild concussion isn’t anything to mess around with, but it could have been a *lot* worse.  Praying for you guys!

  • So sorry about the accident! Praying that everything turns out ok. I was rear-ended 3 times in my old truck, and know how scary that can be! Did you get to reconnect with your client?

  • Praise God it wasn’t worse. I will still pray that Nathaniel gets better, after all, he has to play that guitar to make some cash. Also that both boys feel safe. What a scary experience for all.

  • Omigoodness!  So glad that no one was hurt badly, even though concussions suck.  I hope Nathaniel is feeling much better now.  Some people just don’t pay attention, which is REALLY scary when you’re on the road.  May the Semsens be safe from any more accidents for a loooooooooong time.  How is the car, by the way?

  • Glad everyone is okay.  And yes, I too feel like a fat, lazy slob while watching the Olympics…and yet I just keep on watchin’!

  • @skwillson - the car is OK. Took it in today for repairs and now we are driving a rental…a Camry. It’s nice.

I feel a little bit like a stinker…people are going to come to church and see ANOTHER brand new car and be confused about that fancy worship pastor with his brand new cars every week. HAHAHA…

oh well. They should read the blog.
    HA!

  • Oh my GOSH, I’m so sorry.  What a horrific ordeal.  WOW!  We will most definitely keep the family in prayer.

  • @dsemsen - Yes, they should read the blog.  I keep telling people to join us on Xanga, and they keep telling me about Facebook.  I refuse to switch.  I already have a myspace account that I rarely go on.  So I hope you’re enjoying your fancy rental car and will get your Prius back soon.  My Camry does get about 27-28 mpg, though.

  • @skwillson - Facebook is great, but it’s no blog.
I tried copying/pasting my xanga posts to myspace for a while…but no one cares….hahaha
