  • Christmas is Coming

I have a few things to say--let's do it in list form:

    1) First (official) day as Associate Registrar was awesome. I like this job a lot.

    2) I love Conan O'Brien. I haven't watched him very much, but now with the magic of DVR, I can watch or delete him whenever I want. He's so hilarious. I am so glad he'll be taking over The Tonight Show in 2008 or 2009 (I forget which one).

    3) Went to a John Williams concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday. It was a classic experience. This is why we live in LA--to be around and experience things like the most magnificent film composer of our time (or all time, perhaps) conducting the LA Philharmonic under the stars at one of the most famous and iconic venues in the world. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was great. 5 encores later, we finally went home...

    4) There are some conversations that are never easy to have, no matter how many times you have them.

    5) It feels amazing to be (and feel) valued for skills that you've worked on building all of your life.

    6) Christmas is coming sooner than you know it! I'm already picking out Christmas concert repertoire.

    7) I'm finding some balance in life right now by putting personal health--i.e. sleep, good eating habits, and exercise--above work. I'm also on a much better schedule for my personal devotions. I've lost over 10 lbs in the past month or so partly due to that competition I was in with my office-mates and partly due to the fact that it was time to take better care of myself. I don't want to eat so much sugar that I develop adult-onset diabetes. So I've cut back, and I frankly feel way better. I don't have sugar highs and lows--my energy level stays pretty constant throughout the day. I'm not feeling STUFFED full all the time, and I'm not sluggish. It's nice. So cool.

    8) 10-year high school reunion is coming up in about 6 weeks. That is going to be crazy. I'm so looking forward to it.

  • I'm glad things are going better. The coming weeks are going to be interesting, as things begin to shift. Being healthy is a great preparation for the storm ahead. Time for you to lead us into the black with ferocity! It is together that we prevail!

  • (pounding podium with fists)

  • BLOOD ALONE MOVES THE WHEELS OF HISTORY!!

    :(

  • And isn't it great that you lost 10 lbs. just before your high school reunion?  And that you're married to a former beauty queen?  Heehee.  :o )  Congratulations on finding balance.  When you're done with it, can I have it?

  • ^^It's not for sale...

  • Yay for John Williams!!! Carol and I went on Saturday. What encores did he play on Friday? We heard more Star Wars, ET, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Indiana Jones. Whee!!!!! I nearly died of happiness when I heard they were going to play Gone with the Wind. Max Steiner is the coolest!!! Such a beautiful sweeping score!!!

  • It was great having you do worship with us Sunday! Thanks for the blessing!

  • your title makes me think of the song, "christmas is coming, goose is getting fat, will you please put a feather in the old man's cap."  wait a sec, cap doesn't rhyme with fat.  maybe we're supposed to put a feather in the old man's cat.  hmmmmmm.......

    have you heard that song?

  • um, yeah, me neither.

  • I JUST sang it to him right now, Melody. He looked at me funny. It could have been the boppy hand movements I did while I sand. Also perhaps that he is currently on the phone....

  • I thought you looked like you had lost some weight.  Right on for putting personal health before work.  Improving time management skills to include more quality time for personal devotions is also way cool. Both those items have been on the top of my list for awhile now and ironically I've also lost 10+ pounds.  But brother I can honestly say "it aint been easy".   Keep fighting the good fight.

P.S. Jerard and I will be on vacation.  Going to Denver, Colorado for our family reunion.  Be back August 31st.  See Ya and Peace out!

  • did you really say your hair weighed 10 lbs?  did that include including facial and nasal?
