  • Water

So, how am I supposed to know that one is supposed to call the Water company to hook up water when you move into a house? Geez...

Um, so yes. We have no water right now. Evidently, it just stopped flowing on Wednesday night. I get a text message saying "we have no water--did you pay the water bill?" And I think to myself, "what water bill?"
Well, Christy called the Covina water company yesterday, but evidently our water is through the Azusa water company. So today, first thing, she calls the Azusa water co. and they are closed Friday through Sunday. OK, so she calls the "after hours emergency line" and they tell her that we are on some water black-list thing. What?!? Evidently, they can't turn our water back on over the phone because we've been illegally using water...they had the house listed as vacant and then saw a spike in the water usage without anyone calling to take over the billing, so they turned it off. Great. Thank you, Azusa water co. for being closed three days over the weekend and not being willing to turn back on our water over the phone. I guess now we're bona-fide criminals.

Christy hasn't showered in several days...fortunately for me, I can shower at the gym. However, it is quite hilarious that Nathaniel asks for water before going to bed and I have to tell him, "Sorry honey, we're all out of water right now..." I don't think his little brain can understand that...and frankly, neither can mine...

On a different note, I also got a parking ticket for parking on the street outside our house. I guess there is no overnight parking in Covina, unless you have a permit. ARGH!

ATTENTION LANDLORDS! Inform your tenants of things like "you need to turn on the water" or "there is no parking overnight on the street" or other major things like that!!!

And thank you to both the city of Azusa AND Covina...what a special week this has been...

oh yeah, anyone have some extra water?

  • Yeah... sorry... but everyone knows you have to turn on the water. Ok, not everyone, clearly...

And how is it that you have lived in this area for a zillion years and didn't know that about Covina?

Just speakin' the truth in love. :)

  • ^^^DUDE-we lived in an apartment!

  • Glendora also has a no parking overnight law... just in case you need to know at some point.

  • ^^Thanks Scott. See, someone looking out...

  • Pasadena does too...just in case you ever move here...or stay over at someone's house...though hopefully they'd know... I actually remember thinking Azusa was weird for letting people park overnight since I grew up not being able to, but I wasn't going to argue with a good thing since we sure needed that street parking in University Park!! One space for 4 cars?? Come on!!!

  • Dan - please come over to our house tonight and use our water - showers and all.  We have plenty of water and would love to share it with you!  We even have a second bathroom that never gets used.  Seriously, call us today after 3.  We'll hook you up.  Sorry for the inconvenience...I've said it before, being an adult is hard and no fun waaayy too much!!

  • What to you mean you can't pack on the street???? Isn't it a public street??? Tooo strange. I guess you guys just need to move back down to San Diego where you can park anywhere you want to...just sayin is all.

  • A couple of things, this post made you sound like your living in a 3rd world country, not the prestigous Orange County! How funny! Next, I just posted and used paragraphs, it was so easy, I'm sorry I hadn't done it before! I can relate with the water thing because when I lived in Zambia ( a 3rd world country) we had no water for a week and it was horrible and disgusting, so I can relate...good luck!

  • well-technically, this is LA County, but I'll let it slide, THIS time...

  • oh brother, I've noticed ever since you've been in your "master's classes" your xanga comments are all about grammar, paragraphs, or technicalities that I've screwed up on...maybe you should quit your master's classes and go back to being nice, funny Daniel. Not "I'm so smart I have to make you look really, really studid" Daniel! ok, just kidding you're still funny and nice, but I had to get back at you. I'm excited to see your family tomorrow!

  • my point is proven....you are OUT OF CONTROL. Your new official name is Grammar Man.

  • oooo--Dan the Grammar Man...I like it, except, I don't really know all THAT much grammar..so, I'd be a pretty mediocre superhero, at best.

  • There is no parking allowed on city streets in Brea either.  I guess they don't want the nice cities looking ghetto.  And as for the other topic of jest, why don't they teach us valuable things like a, "How to Turn the Water On When You Move into a New Home and other Obvious but Easily Overlooked Things," class, or, "Your City; Don't Get Screwed By It," and etc.  Instead, here you are in a house smelling like poo and dirty kids, but at least you know how to compose 3-part counterpoint and other useful things.
