  • I love having my iTunes on shuffle. I never ever thought I would like it, since I
usually am very particular about what I’m listening to, but it is just pulling
up random tracks and its great. David Crowder here, John Williams there; a
little Coldplay and a little Danny Elfman…it’s great! I tell you what, I can’t
believe Titanic won best score in 1998 (in March, for films made in 1997). I listened to a track recently and was
thinking to myself “this? THIS?!!?! THIS is what we thought was the best in
1998! Holy cow!” It was dismal. So synth-y and simple. I think we were all just
caught up in the emotion of the movie, darn you Leonardo DiCaprio!

Choir at Christ-First Baptist last night was great. The
night began as a more formal meet/greet event. Christy and I sang, I talked
about our life journey, and they asked questions—good, difficult questions.
After that, we did a choir practice with the folks who were there for choir. I
was surprised at how good they were—I picked songs from their library, but it
turned out they still hadn’t necessarily sung them before. Oh well…they picked
them up pretty fast. It was a very fun time for me, and I’m hoping they enjoyed
    it as well.

So, I found that the process is going like this—I had my
initial talks with the Pastor, I met with the staff for an informal meet/greet,
then I did an interview with a council (I forget which one…), then we had the
rehearsals last night and Wednesday night, leading the services on Sunday, and
there’s a meeting with their Staff Relations committee to make the decision to
hire me or not. So I should know after that…thanks for all your prayers!

    I need a haircut-BAD. I need a place where there is a
stylist who KNOWS who Ryan Seacrest is and could cut my hair in that style. I
hate buzzers, they give my hair an army look…no thank you. I need razors for
styling and scissors for cutting. I need help. HELP! Where can I go?

  • Metrosexuals 'R' Us?

  • just go to a place that is not cheap

  • You're just a Horner Hater is all.

  • I like James Horner. Titanic wasn't the greatest score, I guess... I have it and still listen to it... I think it's pretty good...what other scores was it competing with in '98? It probably was the best for that year.

  • ^^No way--that year also gave us JP II (The Lost World), Amistad, and Seven Years in Tibet--which 2 out of 3 of those scores are AWESOME---and all by John Williams. WAY better than J Horner.

  • here are other nominees:

    Best Music, Original Dramatic Score:
    James Horner, TITANIC (winner)

    Other nominees included:
    * John Williams for Amistad
    * Danny Elfman for Good Will Hunting
    * Philip Glass for Kundun
    * Jerry Goldsmith for L.A. Confidential

  • Glad you'll be a music director again.  You were born to do that - at least for now.  And you're in Orange County.  Does anyone there NOT know who Ryan Seacrest is?

  • The whole music thing at the Oscars is interesting. They go with the score/song that really captures the feeling of the film, and Horner did do that with Titanic. I like to pull it out and listen to it once in a while because it makes me remember all that was good about that movie (i.e. Leonardo...). That's how last year's winner for best song was "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp"...it sure captured the feeling of Hustle & Flow...but it does weird me out. :)

  • Shoot, I don't even have OSX Tiger yet. There's a NEW one? sheesh.

  • Well, guess you need to make another San Diego run for a good hair cut!!  Glad things are going well...still miss you and Christy here!  Ah, well, God is in control, and that is GREAT comfort!

  • Hate to break this to ya man, but Panther came out before Tiger. Tiger was the advent of widgets and spotlight. I have Panther.

And I thought you knew something about macs...

  • question: is it Christ-First?  or Christ, First Baptist?  really, what does the First go with?  just wondering.

we're coming up with names, you know.  actually we have one.
