  • SB poster copy

3rd EDIT: Yes my friends, Starbucks again. Free sample again--this time a venti, yes, a venti. I rock. I rock.  Banana fraps are awesome--especially when they're free.

C'mon, you know you wanna comment...

2nd EDIT: New record--5 times in one day. This time I got a free tall Bananas and Caramel Frappuccino. All I have to say is 1) I'm the awesomist, and 2) Fa la fa la, I love Free Sample Day (or shall we call it New Product Day?). Amazing. And definately a world record. 5 trips, 3 stores, free samples everywhere...

    classic.

EDIT: I just set a world record and went to SB for the fourth time today AND I didn't buy any drinks AND I sampled the rest of the stuff that I hadn't sampled yet. I'm unbelievable.
This has been another episode of Daniel Being Awesome.
    Tune in next time...

New Frappuccinos are here! Now, if you've been in a Starbucks today (no, I haven't been 3 times...oh wait, yes I have...) then you've noticed that the decor is new for summer and there are new summer drinks and pastries!

Now I was a little leary at first, but I sampled, and I sampled, and I sampled some more, and it is pretty tasty stuff. Banana & Caramel Frap, Banana Mocha Frap, and Banana Cocanut Frap (all offered with creme based or coffee based) and with pretty much any mixture of those flavors--like perhaps a Banana Mocha Cocunut, or Bananas and Creme.

Yes, I know, in theory it sounds disgusting. I dispise bananas in my Jamba Juices, (they taste especially bad with femme boosts), and overall I don't really eat bananas or banana flavored things. I was hesitant, if not dissapointed. But then I tasted and saw, and it was good.

Ok, so I went to my favorite Starbucks on my lunch break, because they saved me some menus for my office, and I wanted to get that decorating done and out of the way today. While I was there I had a small sample size of the banana caramel frap, and it was yummy. Then, as I was driving back to work I thought to myself "Self, we should stop by other Starbucks store to see if they are sampling the other flavors of fraps" and so I did.
I stopped by the Starbucks right by work and saw someone outside with a sample cup and was like "YES!". I walked in and asked this dude if they were sampling, and he was like "Totally!--oh wait, we're out!"  I was sorely dissapointed but then he said "But don't be trippin' man! I'll make you some right now!". He then proceeded to drop a big chunk of the new banana cake in my hands--which was delightful. Then he made me an entire grande Banana Mocha Frap as my free sample! Sweet! And I LOVED it.

Starbucks is so good to me. Thank you, Starbucks. I love you.

    (so dramatic...)

So don't be afraid to try these tasty drinks. AND, if you go during the first week of new drinks, don't be afraid to ask for free samples!

  • But I don't like banana ANYTHING . . . do I have to try it?

  • yes, you have to, because I felt the same way-and I still loved it!

  • Here's my problem with banana - anytime you put banana in something, the banana flavor is so overwhelming that it's all you can taste. So I choose to abstain from these new beverages. But seriously, can you drive me there later? If a MFDBMAS can't put me in a good mood, I don't know what can.

  • but the banana is sutble enough. It really is. NOT overwhelming--and I have the exact same thoughts--usually banana disgusts me but this time it is good.

  • Noah loves bananas. He deserves one of these tasty treats.

  • too bad there is milk in it(probably), hmmm...I'll check. But you're right, he loves bananas. Now getting him to actually drink it...that'd be interesting...

  • Can't you get it with soy? Or is it like from a mix?

  • Yucky, yucky, yucky! The Starbucks "Power of Persuasion" has taken over your tastebuds (and brain, obviously), for sure! I seriously HATE banana flavored stuff. I can handle about a half of a real banana, but really never go out of my way to eat one. I do enjoy coconut flavored stuff, and would be interested in that - but not with the grey, gushy, banana pulp added! Gross! I just really want to know, is there anything they make that doesn't send you into a "high"?

  • sure-try the creme fraps. They don't have any caffiene. Plus, the banana flavoring is just a syrup-no real bananas there! So no pulp!

  • No, you can't get it with soy. That's a very common question, actually. You could make a coconut mocha or latte with soy, but fraps don't come milk-free. :( ooh, sorry, *frappuccinos.* (we've all been chastised for calling them "fraps" because if we don't use the full term, we'll lose our copyright of it. Isn't that silly?)

I've tried them, and I can't say I like them all that much... If you really like eating your bananas dipped in chocolate, then you might like the Banana Mocha Frappuccino, but I am not one of them. And I hate coconut, so that's out, too. Ah well, at least the new coffee cake is pretty good! I was leery of that, too...

If you're interested, the banana stuff for the frappuccinos is a lot like the strawberry stuff that we already have. It's mostly banana, but very well blended with something else, so it's not pulpy and nasty. It does have a very strong smell, though. (I think that's why the flavor of bananas is so overwhelming, mostly, because of the strong smell...)

Ok, very long comment. That's what you get for asking questions I know the answer to!!

  • ...and you updated while I was typing my comment. Just goes to show how long it took me to write!

  • Question. Banana creme frap?

    Answer. Thumbs up.

  • ^^ Nice
    I told you so!

  • As my mother used to say, "try it, you might like it"...but is this real banana or just fattening syrupy stuff?

  • no real bananas--just syrup-but not fattening. (well, it's full of sugar...)
check out the nutrition facts on http://www.starbucks.com

  • Full of sugar=fattening. Duh. You sugar monger.

  • ^^ Not always...and you know what. Maybe I am a sugar monger, but that's way better than being a FISH monger. Ewwww...
or a banana monger, for that matter...

    I'm a Starbucks monger

  • I wanna go to Hogwarts.

  • Banana is the first thing on the ingredients list of the syrup stuff, according to the partner info. That's always a good sign. :P

Hey, since you like the banana stuff, you should try it with Mocha and Caramel. I'm told it's quite yummy.

  • Oh, you might be interested to know that the spiffy decorations that you were talking about take over 4 hours to put up, generally... The shift starts at 11 and ends at 3 or after. Well, it ends when you're done, really. :P I've had to do rollovers before, and they can either be a lot of fun, or horrendous.

  • ^^I did. Caramel Banana is awesome. The Mocha one ain't bad either!

  • they were doing it from 4PM to Midnight at my favorite store (Badillo and Grand)

  • I've never known anyone more enthusiastic about Starbucks. Congratulations.

  • I have nothing to say. I just think this post needs to have 30 comments. Come on, who's with me?!

  • by the look of this site everyone has been drinking at starbucks...YUMMMIEEEE

  • Yeah, here's my contribution toward the 30 comments!  And thanks for the tip on the free samples! :)

  • Dan might have 30 comments, but 9 of them are his. ;)

  • You're like a homeless person, wandering the city, and the aisles of Costco, for free samples.

  • There's a Starbucks on Badillo and Grand? Has that been there long? Oy...

"You better make your purchase quick, this store is becoming a Starbucks in 5 minutes..."

  • Yeah, except that most homeless people don't have memberships to Costco. However, it might be worth the money, just for the samples...

  • I think you should always decorate your blog with whatever colors Starbucks is currently decorating with.

  • Okay, so 5 trips to SB in one day, no drinks purchased but what do you suppose the gas cost was for those 5 trips?  Something to think about.  Fun to hear about your adventures.  Keep blogging...and no jumping...don't like Mike's new site.  Guess I just have to get used to it.

  • i don't like Mike's new site either. He's a poo poo head.

  • But I don't LIKE Banana . . .

  • Oooo--we're almost to 40 comments, nevermind that a lot of them are mine...

  • Yeah, nevermind that.

Just keep adding edits to this post and let's see how many comments you can get. The possibilities are endless! And soon you will be... obsolete!

  • wow...where did my comment go??  to the xanga abyss...

  • i'm proud to leave the 40th comment...this starbucks business is out of control!

  • By the looks of things, I think Daniel has had to many starbucks samples!

  • I rock your bottom? Gross.

  • why the heck are we still making picks when we predicted the final three long ago? I don't get it...and I didn't pick, 'cause we already picked?????

If you would read my posts more carefully, I was very clear that the pre-season predictions were BONUS points on top of your regular predictions.

  • Well, I'm not reading carefully. And how long ago did you say that? Anyways. I still think Katherine will win, although she may not. She's my pick, and I WILL ROCK if she wins since I predicted it YEARS AGO.

  • How long ago did I say that?

    Last week.

And start a new blog entry already. Or I'll start not reading your blog carefully anymore.

  • No, keep this one going!!! World record for most comments. Aaaa-aaa-mennnnnnn.

  • Step back from the Starbucks.....you caffine junkie you.

  • Don't step back... come pick me up and take me to the promise land! (aka the bucks on Foothill and San Gabriel)

  • No, really. Come pick me up.

  • 12 episodes down. 10 to go. I rule.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EDGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what wall are you talking about.

p.s. you're by far the most popular comment getter i've ever seen!

  • i think one time Mike has gotten more than me, but I think this is a new World record. Call Guiness...

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the Guiness Book has a category for this. But then, you may have disqualified yourself by commenting on your own blog. :P Also, if you've ever gone to the blogs of one of the xanga people, they end up with over 100 comments, easy. I mean, who reads 100 comments from people they don't know??

  • Please STOP getting samples...you are on a caffeine overload!! LOL

  • I'm bored with all these comments

  • Hey, were you at APU when Dr Bonner was in the Music Dept? He is now heading up the Music Department here at CBU

  • how does one person get 58 comments.  give or take a few from your own comments...but i usually do save my work all the time.  i was just in the middle of a thought and...darn you computers.  so next saturday, will the family be coming to my graduation party?  there will be some amazing food.

  • So glad to hear that Daniel G. wasn't the cheap landlord.  I would have been very disappointed.  :o )  So you guys are coming down for West Side Story tonight, huh?  I just found out this morning that WSS was this weekend, and we already have play tix to go see Rehearsal for Murder at Lamb's.  Bummer.  Not about the play at Lamb's, just about missing WSS.  Have fun!

  • Banana that is not the fruit is nasty.  I'm afraid.
