  • OH BOY!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Carrie Underwood!! My favorite!! Yahoo!!! FINALLY!!!!! The one I want to win, wins!!
OK-I didn't care last year because I didn't really care about ANY of the finalists (except maybe Latoya), I just wasn't into it. And the year before that, I wanted Clay to win--not that it mattered, he is a WAY bigger (and better) star than Rueban...imho
    So yay! YAY for Carrie!!!!

AND LOST!!! Wow! I have never seen such a riveting finale of a show since "The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1" from Star Trek: TNG in 1990. That's 15 years!! I was enthralled and pleased beyond belief. Sometimes I dream of working in the kind of creative environment that comes up with the genius stuff that goes into that show. I don't know about the process, but the end product is amazing.

Watched some of the MUSICalifornia DVD today of the MPC. The mix on the DVD is awful. The instrumental track is a fine volume, but the choir is just too soft underneath. I was a little bummed. I know it is not really supposed to be a fantatic product--just a resource for the publishers and directors, etc...but I was a little bummed to hear that you can't really hear the choir that well on it. Soloists, fine. Narrator, fine. Track, fine. Choir, WAY too soft. It was still fun to watch, though. Big close-ups of the choir and stuff. Good for me to see as a director, and good for me to see my own conducting, too. Not so good...I'm going to try a few things different (but that's not something you need to worry about...I'm just ranting...)

It is cool to see the amazing answers to prayer among the people in the Midway Praise Choir. There was one group that had 5 out of the 7 of their prayers answered between last week and this week. What a blessing! Praise the Lord!!!!
Not just that, though. A few different individuals are really being blessed by being in the group. Now we just have to tie everything together...help me Lord! We need unity among our people!

Thank you Lord for the sacrifices people are making to be in this choir! It is awesome to see their dedication to You!!

Oh yeah-and if this is the day the Lord has made, then what are you griping about????

OK-so it's been 365 days since I've joined xanga. Don't know if I've actually blogged exactly that long, or if I just created a user name since that time, but here's the question. AFTER ONE YEAR OF DOING THIS, should I keep going??????
    thoughts????
    ...and be honest....

  • hmm..ducky2day says:

Daniel, If it makes you happy and it is not just one more thing to do...keep going. On my end, sometimes it is a great joy to read and informative. I did for the first time check out your Midway connection and I would say to those who don't keep their blog current...stop! =)

  • Keep up with your blog!

I wanted Bo to win, but I was just as happy tp see Carrie win. They are both very talented. Carrie bugged me alittle because she seemed to have pitch problems (more like bad notes here and there-often), and her style was alot like many other singers out there-very country-western-ish. (Not too original) But, when all is said and done both were excellent and deserved to win, imo.

  • Please DO NOT QUIT your blog!  It's inspiritaitonal!  It's really fun!  I enjoy it and it gives me some bright spots in some days that are otherwise really downers.

I was wondering if you were going to get video from the Music California thingie.  Don't know if I really want to see how goofy I must look or not....

God is GREAT!  I'm so encouraged to hear about answered pray for my fellow choir members.  Thank you Lord!

  • yes. keep going.

  • I think you should stop....what a silly question- I know you enjoy it, why would you ask?Silly husband.

  • If it is not a chore.... then PLEASE DON'T STOP! Your bloggs put a smile on my face.... and that way you do not see so many wrinkles!

  • I enjoy reading it

  • By what standards do I judge Bo's musicianship???  Maybe by the simple fact that he can STAY IN TUNE AND ISN'T A ROBOT!!!  Did you hear Carrie on Tuesday night?  If Paula is telling you you're pitchy, that's not a good thing.  But the problem is that AI isn't voted dependent upon musicianship...Oh and keep blogging, jerk.

  • Please don't stop. I enjoy this window into your life. I appreciate your honesty, humility and spiritual insight. Love, Dad

  • By the way, Bo was the most accomplished and pure musician, singer and performer; but Carrie embodied the essence of who the American Idol is all about. All-American, genuine, innocent, talented, sweet, naiive, etc. I was surpised at the results of the voting.

    Dad

  • Yeah for Carrie.  Very glad that she won also.  Steffanie's favorite also.  I think that the pitchiness (if that is a word) started as the competition came to a close and they got down to the final few.  Nerves took over and her voice began to show the strain of it all.  In the beginning, she didn't hit bad notes.  Anyway, keep blogging.  Like your dad stated, it gives everyone a little look into who Daniel Semsen is and like Val, it always brings a smile to my face.  For many, they only see Daniel as the Tuesday night director and the Sunday singer and director.  You are so much more than that and this allows people to see that.  Jen
