  • Just Kidding, Just Kidding, Just Kidding

Every once and a while, a truly remarkable and talented comedian comes along on SNL. Dan Akroyd, Phil Hartman, and Will Ferrell (among others) will be remembered for a long time as SNL greats...and I'm convinced that Kristen Wiig will soon be joining the list. This girl is hilarious--and I called it a looooong time ago, too...
Here are a couple of her winners from recent shows. SO funny...

So, who are your all-time favorite SNL cast members?

  • Daddy Day

Tonight Christy is going to "Prism", a big show at her old high school.
Of course this means tonight is another Daddy night...which means we will be eating cereal for dinner, playing PS2, and watching Empire Strikes Back.

    I'm such a good dad.

  • Laser Cats

So there is this super-silly re-occurring sketch on SNL called "Laser Cats". It's pretty stupid and funny.
But TODAY I found a little Laser Cats game on the SNL website...it's pretty fun. It reminds me of the good ole Atari days...check it out!

We also heard back from the house people. It turns out that the owner did not expect to get an application for it that quickly. He's raising the asking price by $250 bucks...and honestly, he should. It's just going to most likely put it out of our already stretched range. :(
I haven't responded with anything but an email saying we're going to talk about it...but it doesn't look good.
    I'm a little bummed.
    (ok, a lot bummed)

I need to go drown my sorrows with some Lego Star Wars II.

  • No News is Good News????

So yesterday we met with the owner and realty company reps for this glorious house we are trying to rent in Burbank.

It was a lot of pressure and we really didn't know what to do with ourselves...the owner seemed nice. He showed us around the house a little bit, and then talked to the realty lady in private for a while.
Then the gal told us that the owner was going to talk to his wife about it and that we should hear back from them in about a week.

    A week!!

    Egads!

If we were paranoid, we could think that he was just putting us off because they didn't like us and wanted to show the house around to a lot of different people...IF we were paranoid, that is...

    So...we're praying...

    ...and a little paranoid.

  • New Myspace Page

So every artist has a myspace page, right?
    Right.

Except when I joined myspace a long time ago, I didn't know that there was a delineation between a "regular" myspace page and a "music" myspace page...so of course I was on a regular page for a long time (not that I actually DID anything on myspace).
My co-worker made a music page about 2 years ago, but I didn't even log in to it until last week sometime...and surprisingly it was still there...
    but no friends. :(

Well...Tom shut my regular myspace page down (apparently I uploaded too many cool SNL videos...shhhhh) so I've gone back over to this music page and actually uploaded a few of my compositions and filled out a little bit of the information.
The weird thing is that I'm technically listed as a "band"...like the Red Hot Chili Peppers or something...and some of you don't accept friend requests from bands. (Thanks a lot).

Anywho--go over to my new myspace page and add me as a friend! Also, if you have any ideas on how to spruce it up, let me know. I'm all ears.

  • Burbank House

    EDIT ADD:
Good news. I got a call back from the realtor this afternoon and she said the owner wanted to meet us AND that our credit stuff checked out...and she was going to cancel her appointment with the other people that wanted to see the house at the same time we did...sooooo maybe we'll get the house!!!!
We'll see...going to meet the owner at 3pm on Thursday...if he likes us, hopefully we can close the deal!! We're so excited!
    Yahoo!

Please PRAY PRAY PRAY for us over the next 24 hours or so.

We found an amazing amazing amazing house in Burbank for rent that is like a mansion compared to the dumps we've seen (this is all relative, mind you) and all of these houses are at the same price...we've been really persistent with the realty company regarding renting it because it is SO wondeful, but there are several people right now interested in the house and they haven't even done anything on it!

Anyways--we have an appointment tomorrow at 3pm to look at the house, but we've been trying to get the gal to let us sign a lease even before that (since there is someone else ALSO looking at it at 3pm, another person on Friday, and another person on Saturday).

I frantically filled out the application today and faxed it back to her, and have left several (I'm sure by now--quite annoying) messages and emails telling her that we'll sign a lease as soon as she can give one to us...

I hope we don't sound desperate! (oh wait, too late)

I'm telling you, this house is spectacular. It's in a great school zone, on a beautiful street, and 4 streets away from our friends Dave & Mary...we're very excited about it...
    I'm so anxious right now!!!!

    (deep breath)

    please pray.

  • I got it

I got the job today as an orchestrator on the movie "Fire and Ice".

    Amazing.

OK--and on the serious, this is NOT an April Fools joke. I don't believe in practical jokes...(really).
I'm super excited. I talked to the composer this morning (oh, and did I mention that I talked to David T. Clydesdale yesterday for about 45 minutes helping him with LOGIC?)

    Love it.

  • Good work

More work from Joe today...this is gooooooood.

I also got an email from Frankie with instructions to call him today because he "has an idea"...this is also veeeeeerrry good...

(word on the street is that he gave a thank you call to my professor for giving him my name/number).

I was telling Scott today that this stage of my "industry" life feels a lot like the beginning stages of dating...you know, like the day after your first date with somebody where you are over analyzing everything that they did and said...waiting for them to call you back...hoping that they liked you?

Yeah...it kinda feels like that. HAHA!

  • Cool Coolness of Cools...

This week is Musicalifornia. That might mean something to some of you, and nothing to others...but to me it means taking the social bloodpressure of the music and worship industry in it's current state. Seriously, everyone comes out to these things...and it's VERY interesting to a person that observes and analyzes others (a person like me) to see "where we're at" right now in one of my fields...haha...

Easter was incredible. Absolutely the coolest thing...

    Travis and Daniel

And finally...tonight I met Travis Cottrell in Pasadena. He performed at Musicalifornia and Christy, Joli, and I talked to him afterwards. He is very humble when you talk to him in person. A super nice guy. I also TOLD him that he's coming to sing at our church sometime soon with our choir/orchestra. And if he does, I might poop my pants a little. Joli just about passed out when he started singing "2000 Years", and I'm pretty sure she was crying during "Forevermore". But seriously, it IS that good. He is amazing. And don't get all hooty-tooty like "Oh, he's OK..." or saying things like, "That song was just alright..." because you haven't HEARD it in person. Dude's got chops--real musician chops--not just pop-singer-wanna-be-CCM-worship-leader chops. Like opera chops that he's translated into faux pop and worship leading. Outstanding.
In honor of his coolness...and because I was headed this way already without knowing it...we're doing an "all Travis" worship set this Sunday (every song is one of his arrangements).
I mean...3 out of the 4 were that way already, I just added the last one when I got excited...

I got a picture. It's coming as soon as Joli emails it...
