Glasses or Contacts?
I’m sick and tired of my glasses.
SICK
AND
TIRED
of them.
Yes, they are pretty cool-looking, and they help me see stuff I would not normally be able to see, but they are so darn annoying!
They are constantly falling off of my face and sliding down my nose–so much so that I’ve developed a NASTY habit of pushing them back up onto the top of my nose like, every ten seconds…(so much so that I even bring my hand to my face to do it when I’m not wearing them). They get smudges on them about every 66.7 seconds, and do not clean off easily…and there is a scratch on the lens of my right eye in the middle–smack dab where I am looking through if I’m looking straight ahead.
I am beginning to despise my glasses.
I can’t wear sunglasses…I can’t look down or up without bending my whole face/neck in the direction in which I’d like to look…I JUST HATE THEM SOOOO MUCH.
But I’ve never worn contacts.
And I’m scared.
Help me xanga nerds and facebook friends!
What’s the deal with contacts?
Is it weird putting a piece of plastic over your eyeball?!?
HELP!

It’s weird at first but I got used to them very easily. What’s unfortunate is it’s impossible to predict how your eyes will react to them. My husband can wear his for weeks straight (which is a terrible idea and he’s stopping that) and his eyes are fine, but mine start bugging me after a few hours. But I’d say it’s for sure worth a try!!!
Just get them. You get used to them.
The first day I tried to put my new contacts in it took me 30 minutes because my eye just didn’t want to cooperate. But now it’s second nature. I can put a stick in my eye if I want to. And they make life 10x easier for all the reasons you mention above – especially the sunglasses part.
@eponine203 - oh come on now, you didn’t even mention how awesome it was that I put a picture of Geordi on here!!!
@MikeknaJ - OK. I think I’m gonna do it…
@MikeknaJ - Geordi? Anyone?
even Geordi goe rid of the visor for contacts. Well, sort of contacts…
i don’t wear either and have 20/20 vision.
) so i can’t speak from experience, but just about everyone i know wears contacts and hates when they have to wear their glasses for whatever reasons. so give it a try. it’ll be weird to see you without your glasses cuz i’m so use to you having them. just like geordi without his everytime i saw him on reading rainbow…
@shesatulip - I do not appreciate your banana spider profile pic!!!!!! BOOOOO!!
it’s a cane spider. get your spiders straight will ya? i signed up on this thing a long time ago and totally forgot that i used this pic. cool. i’m keeping it and will do my best to post on ever blog so that you can see it. it looks like toe to toe it might be 8 inches wide. nice eh?.
I had a really bad experience with contacts (Well, technically contact, since I only need one) when I was younger and I haven’t worn them (it) since. BUT I could probably do it now. Since millions of people do it, I’m sure you can too.
If millions of other people in this world can deal with wearing contacts but YOU can’t, that means they’re better than you. Are you gonna let them beat you?!?!?
You’re welcome.
@sc0tlas - NEEEEEEEVVVAAHHHHHHRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(charging to the eye doctor’s office with my sword, wearing a kilt)
Why don’t you get lasik surgery? I have had contact lenses of all kinds and coke bottle glasses since I was 8 years old (many many years) - but in 2005 I had lasik surgery and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. Really. Although every once in a while I do reach up to adjust my glasses – it couldn’t be more than a few times a month - kim
CONTACTS all the way.
I wear my glasses most of the time, but contacts for sports or special occasions. I’m in too much of a hurry to deal with them most of the time, but I used to care more about how I looked.
) And JD likes me in glasses. I do want some new, cooler glasses, though – mine are boring. Contacts just take about a week or two to get used to. I can wear mine all day & night without a problem, but sometimes they give you a little headache when you don’t wear them every day. I’ve thought about lasik, but I’m way too nervous to give my eyes over to some strange doctor. I only have one set. I know lots of people who have had it, though, and are totally happy about it. Still – no, thanks.
i can do anything. take a look, it’s in a book, the reading rainbow, the reading rainbow, the reading rainbow.
no cable when i was growing up. left with pbs much to often i guess.
(for those clueless, that guy hosted a pbs kids show long ago. the theme song was far from masculine.)
Well, it sounds like you should get your glasses adjusted if they keep falling down!
For me, my dr says he cannot get my vision as good with contacts as he can with glasses. Last time i was in I tried contacts for a little bit, and it was way weird. I wore them for about 35 min, and my vision got progressively worse and worse. Glasses can be a pain sometimes, but contacts have their downfalls too… wind, swiming, dust, what to do when you aren’t wearing them at night or morning… it’s a personal choice, and it can’t hurt to try!
Hey, I just realized I’m tryping all this without my glasses. Sorry if there are any typos… I can’t really see what I’m writing…
I love my contacts. Trying to get MY Dan to get contacts too…maybe you should both take the plunge together for moral support if you can’t muster up the guts to do it on your own…
@klappyanne - my wife totally already made me an appointment!
And perhaps Dan just wants to look sophisticated or something…I mean, he IS a teacher…and when you’re a young teacher, it’s important to look older and more learned. I grew a goatee for the whole year I taught. Freaked the kids out one day when I shaved it off. In fairness though, I looked like a baby without it at that time…but I don’t have that problem now…
