Preciousness
EDIT ADD:
Go back and re-read the last paragraph of this blog entry. It makes NO sense. HA...I was literally falling asleep on the keyboard when I was typing this. I would have just left it and gone to sleep, but I wanted to finish SO BADLY!
I would actually wake up with a million llllllllllllllllllllllls in a row...go back and delete them...aaaaaaand repeat....haha.
Seriously. Sometimes you just need to go to bed.I have more on this post to talk about. Nathaniel actually did some awesome things yesterday and I want to brag about my little boy...
We just got in an accident on the way home from San Diego. It wasn't that bad. A 20 year-old dude rear-ended us right around the 57/60 interchange. Frankly, with all of the driving we do, I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. Hopefully our insurance rates won't be going up...but in all reality as SOON as it happened the first thought I had was concern for my family.
The REALLY funny thing is that we got hit really hard and the kids slept right through it. They have the uncanny ability to do that...we used to have Nertz games all hours of the night with lots of yelling and screaming...the kids slept right through it. I think it's pretty amazing, really...Church today was pretty cool. We had a really different setup on the stage and it felt strange but fun. We had a small group of high schoolers that put on this really powerful skit. It was a tear jerker for sure...We followed the skit with a song (Sing to the King) and I actually had a really hard time singing it second service because I was a mess. Check out a different church doing this same skit on youtube here...
The most emotional time in the skit for me was the last 60-90 seconds of it...just watch, and you'll see why. I'm telling ya, if you're not somehow moved by this thing, then you're a robot and you have no heart.God works in incredible ways.
Tonight we were driving home from San Diego and Nathaniel (in his normal state of just basically yammering on all of the time) asks Christy and I if we knew what our gift from God was...
We didn't know exactly to what he was referring, so we started guess...salvation? Eternal life? Grace? ???
Turns out he was talking about something much more specific to us. He goes on to inform us of what our gifts are:Daddy's gift: playing piano
Nathaniel's gift: singing
Mommy's gift: greeting people and being very nice to them.
Noah's gift: always being cute, hugging, and showing love.Apparently we also have a gift of singing, but we can't all have the exactly same gift, according to Nathaniel 's 411 and you barely read other ones, just admidt it.

He hit the nail right on the head about those gifts, that's for sure! Except for yours. I would go with "candy-eating" or "manipulating people into buying Apple products".
Oh, and I am not AT ALL surprised that your kids slept through the accident. You have conditioned them to sleep through anything. You know that one scene in What About Bob (one of the best movies of all time) when Richard Dreyfus (in his short shorts, tall socks, and old man legs) is trying to wake up Bob? Yeah. Reminds me of your kids.
So what is this thing in June at Midway that I said yes to? Some sort of musical?
He he he! It almost makes sense. You're going to have to start putting at warning at the beginning of your blog. This may be incoherent and make no sense because I will be asleep before I finish typing!
What About Bob. One of the best. COCK-A-DOODLE DOOOO, BOB!
Daniel's gift: challenging Chris to dessert eating contests, and being super competitive
Christy's gift: making you feel GREAT about whatever you choose, and if tomorrow you choose the opposite, then THAT"S GREAT TOO!
Nathaniel: eating rather slowly
Noah: sprinkling dirt clods around our house....and in the mailbox! HAHAHA!
your boys are the best
Oh my gosh, you put Christy's gift into words PERFECTLY. I love it.
Ok let's do more gifts. I hereby declare that anyone who comments on this blog has to list at least one gift for each of the Semsen family. They can be serious or funny, or seriously funny.
Daniel: Getting people excited about ANYTHING (Worship, various TV shows, Starbucks, EIRO, Panera, etc) with your contagious excitement
Christy: Loving her family
Nathaniel: Trying to convince adults to agree to ridiculous "deals" with nothing in it for them. ("Ok Joe, let's make a deal. You don't tell my mom I watched Sponge Bob..." (trails off into nothingness...))
Noah: That smile. Melts your heart every time. Also, giving people nicknames (like calling me "Sandwich")
the gift thing is great. I think it's interesting to see that sort of thing because it tells you about how they percieve you, what they notice, and what's important to them.
Ah Heidi- you're too sweet- and Daniel- tell everyone you fell asleep writing at the end. It doesn't make sense!
Noah: That smile. Melts your heart every time. Also, giving people nicknames (like calling me "Sandwich")
LOL. What?!?
You don't know the Sandwich story??
Ok, Christy took pictures of everyone who interacted with Noah a lot and made a book to try to teach him all of our names. She was flipping through the book with him and after every picture he said "Mike, Melody, Leanne, Joli" etc. When she got to my picture, he said "Sandwich!"
Yeah. I don't know.
I'm really glad you all are okay. And precious it is about all the gifts! Nathaniel is such a great kid!
Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm so glad everyone's OK. My experience has been that an accident classified as "no fault" for you will not affect your insurance at all. Just make sure the police report notes that it was the other driver's fault & make sure your insurance company gets a copy of that & files it appropriately. Went through that when someone hit JD a long time ago.
Your insurance shouldn't go up - anytime someone rear ends you it's always their fault. That stupid 60-57 interchange!! We hate it, too...all that construction didn't help much. Glad you're okay!
I'm sorry you guys got into an accident! That's a real bummer. I was sorry to have missed our teens doing the Lifehouse skit. When I saw that for the first time I cried my eyes out. Pretty amazing stuff.
I don't know if it's on YouTube or not. You could search by Go Phone or Meatloaf, I guess. But they showed it during the results show on AI last night, and I've seen it many times before.
