Bomb Threat
EDIT ADD: I received this just a short time ago…
APU’s Department of Campus Safety working in conjunction with the Azusa Police
Department established a perimeter to ensure the safety and security of our
students, faculty, staff and community members. A suspicious package was
identified and the LA County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Fire Department were
called.With the
LA County Fire Department on site, the Bomb Squad did a cautionary detonation
with a suspicious package at 11:23 a.m. There was no secondary explosion, and no
damage to the immediate area.Access
was granted to university officials 11:43 a.m. The Munson, Ronald
and Warren buildings will reopen at 12:30p.m. today.
We just had a meeting in our office and I just received this email. I’m not too scared about it, but nonetheless–it’s pretty cool that our University is big enough to have something like this happen to it. I think they are supposed to have it resolved by noon. The bomb squad is on it’s way…

Safety received a phone call regarding a bomb threat located in Munson Chapel, located on
APU’s East Campus (Azusa Campus). Munson Chapel, the Ronald Center, and the
Warren Building were immediately evacuated.The Azusa Police Department is currently on site, working in
conjunction with APU’s Department of Campus Safety.The three buildings will remain closed until further
notice. All classes have been canceled
for today, Friday, October 13, so that we may ensure the complete
safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community members.As additional
information is available, it will be posted on
the university’s Emergency Response website at www.apu.edu/response as well as on
the Emergency Hotline: (888) 451-5583.

Btw, it doesn’t matter how big you are. Even the tiniest schools get bomb threats on occasion. But Munson Chapel? And someone that called CS directly? That’s just lame.

It IS Friday the 13th, you know. I think your friend was right – somebody just wanted out of a test. Now he/she has the weekend to study some more.
Of course they let the students have the day off for THEIR safety… but us poor staffers are still sitting around posting stuff on Dan’s xanga site!

^^I don’t think so. They detonated a suspicious looking package, but there was no secondary explosion, so I don’t think it was a bomb…
I would like to add that I remember getting a bomb threat in junior high. At Coarsegld Elementary School? Ever heard of it? No.
And I don’t know about you, Daniel, but my desk at work is made out of the finest plastic.
