  • The Piano is BACK!

Well, I’m pretty tickled right now.

I lead worship from the piano. I sit at the piano, play and
sing and lead from there. For a long time I really felt like that style of
leading worship was pretty “old school”. Most people were leading from an acoustic
guitar and piano was a little too traditional of a sound—at least in the 90’s/early
2000’s. Now I’m listening to Coldplay, Keane, and (today) The Fray, and they
all have piano as a pretty main part of their sound. It is awesome! I’m totally
back in! And not only am I “in”, I’m hip!
I feel very trendy…so now high-schoolers think that leading worship from a
piano is pretty sweet, I guess, as long as the overall style of the worship isn’t
    too traditional sounding—which we’re not…

So, yes, I’m tickled. Quite tickled. Yay for the piano!

  • You said "tickled" three times. You're triple-tickled.

  • now if we can only get OUR piano back!

  • And the piano is soooo much better than a keyboard.  :o )

  • ^^^Yep, it sure is!!

  • You should get a tattoo, buy women's jeans, and wear tight shirts...then you'll really be hip(ster).

  • boo keyboard.  yay piano.  wait.  I'm on a keyboard now... shoot.  Happy for you though!

  • I hate keyboards with a passion; I am sorry. Yay for piano indeed.

  • Speaking as a person who took piano lessons for 10 years and still can't play worth anything, I have great respect for anyone who can do it. Not to mention singing at the same time...

  • I really love the way you lead worship especially from the piano.  It is so humble in the way you quietly lead.  God's gift is what is awesome in that setting because although the choir, band, accompaniment and congregation must be led by you, it's very unobtrusive.  I've seen where people who lead are from a piano (or organ or other electric keyboard) seem to be the center of attention.  In the worships that really matter, no one person is the center of attention.  Only God.  And that is why it is truely worship.
