  • The Oscars

24 spoilers ahead for 3/6's episode...goodbye Edgar Styles. I'm going to miss you.
All I have to say is that in consideration to Mike's hacksaw rating, this episode gets eleventy billion out of ten hacksaws. That's all I gotta say.

View and Download M. Night Shyamalan's 2-min AMEX commercial here. It is sooooo cool, and this is AMEX's site, offering it for a download for your iPod, not someone's illegal site...I love it!!!!

Mmmmmmm...I'd like to say thank you to the academy for awarding Crash the Oscar for Best Picture! What a great choice! Mike was telling me a while back that the academy often likes films that tackle a somewhat controversial subject, and that those films often win best picture (Schindler's List: The Holocaust, Philadelphia: AIDS, Million Dollar Baby: Euthanasia, and Crash: Racial and Cultural Prejudice).
So, we all thought Brokeback Mountain would win because it is the first film to really tackle homosexuality in the mainstream (which whether you like it or not, is a big part of our culture, no matter how much you try to hide from it). Now BM was a pretty big hit; the studio and the filmmakers never expected it to A) make so much money, or B) play in cinemas all over the country (it was expected to be a limited release, to the big cities only).  And for all of you out there who would bash the film simply because of your personal feelings on homosexuality as a lifestyle, I would like to say, that's not the reason I'm glad it didn't win. I'm glad it didn't win because I think Crash was far more deserving. The topic of homosexuality is here to stay as much as a lot of conservatives wish it was not. However, the topic of prejudice reaches far more deep and wide to every corner of this country and our world than than former does. I believe that most everybody has dealt with prejudice in some form, whether taught to not do it, or have been on the receiving end of someone else's prejudice attitude, or whatever--it is far more poignant than anything else was. In my opinion, Crash definitely deserved the Oscar. However, it is my 2nd favorite movie this year, behind Munich. I will always love Steven Speilberg.

And the American Express commercial with M. Night Shyamalan was so incredible! My 2nd favorite movie maker...and I hope to see that commercial again! It was awesome!

We went to San Diego yesterday for a friend's baby shower, and also played some games with our friends down there. It was fantastically fun! I was quite distracted at the NERTZ game by the Oscars going on while we were playing, hence my horrible defeat. I cannot however make any excuses for our loss at CatchPhrase--except that the women took a terribly long time with their clues everytime they got the disc, always landing it in our laps the very instant the buzzer went off. Stupid girls!!!

Oh well, it was SOOOO fun!

  • Nice try. We all were watching the Oscars.

  • Yeah. I'm going to wipe the floor with you tomorrow night, Xaniel.

  • "You should check out a couple J. Dobson books. We read Dare to Discipline and it was pretty awesome, even though I'm not the best at it all...being a parent is HARD!"

Yeah, I think that I read that once.  He does have a lot of good ideas, but I am definitely NOT into spanking.  Gabriel has been doing better lately.  He was getting sick, and I think that was part of it.  Also, he finally made the transition into underwear, and having more control over his life has helped him calm down a bit too.  For now.  :)   But I should definitely check out that book again!

  • Hey, I like that Xaniel name!  :)   Guess I am going to have to watch CRASH.  Tom and I did watch RENT.  You are right  that homosexuality is here and we need to not hide our heads in the sand about it.  But, I had a really hard time watching RENT.  I got through it though, and I gave it a fair chance.  Got more thinking and praying to do about it.  It was a tough show for me to watch.

  • Fun game...CatchPhase!  :>)

  • So that's where I left my CatchPhrase...GIRLS ROCK!!!!

  • Thanks.  I will watch the bonus material on the RENT video before I send it back.  The love songs were amazing--I will give it that.  And, I had fun staging the scenes in my head as I watched it. Hmmm...

  • Answer: That's just the way it is. Call it a spiritual gift.
Answer: Didn't the all time king of the Nertz world score in the double digits the other night? Hmmmmm...
    Answer: I'll call her.
Answer: I have no idea. Josh McGowan is busy, my friend Lynette is tutoring, Sara Schommer is kind of sick but I still might drag her along, and Scott Douglas never responded. And I don't have any other friends.
    Answer: Pest.
    Answer: Stop it.
    Answer: I'm done with this.

  • I'm talking about the reason why I hate American Idol. But I made a pact to never speak of it again, hence "The Day We Don't Speak Of."

    Ummmm... soon?

  • I am taking an American Studies class called The Multicultural Woman.  We were looking at the different view points of the "white trash" American.  We compaired the animal qualities the boy and the mother had and went from there.  I love my professor.  She does a lot of work with the minute men and child prostitution in Mexico.

  • Hey, sometimes you only deserve 1 eprop. The eprops are a privilege, not a right.

  • You can't handle the hacksaws!

  • Excuses, excuses - bottom line, you can't always be the winner : ) !!!
