  • EDIT ADD ADD:
Congrats! Aaron C. Turner has been officially hired for the position of Music Pastor at Midway! Awesome! Congrats everyone on having a new Pastor of Worship. I am excited about what Aaron will bring to the worship ministry at MBC. I truly believe his passion and love for music and worship will bring everyone to a place I never would have been able to--in all humility--seriously. I am excited! Congrats!

    EDIT ADD:
    This movie looks hilarious!

So on my great quest to get a job I had another interview today. This one was quite different, though. I found this company on monster.com and I think it was more like a temp agency, or at least, an agency that finds people for other companies. Some were temp jobs, and some were full-time. I ranked myself pretty high, but they weren't quite as impressed...anyways-I spent most of the time taking skills tests. They tested my WORD abilities, EXCEL abilities, and some other regular office skills...I did great on the WORD test, and not as good on the EXCEL one. I have to admit, my favorite part was the video on proper professional etiquette..."Never lift anything over 50 lbs. When using filing cabinets, always open only one drawer at a time. Always use a step stool when attempting to retrieve objects that are over your head, and always use the hand rail when going down stairs..." HA! What is this, 9th grade? It was comical...I don't know if anything will actually come of it...I guess we'll see.

Might have another interview at APU, this time for a different position. Please be praying!

On my OTHER great quest (to watch the 25 movies you must see before the Oscars), I watched The Constant Gardener tonight while Christy was out with her friend seeing the Jennifer Aniston movie...it was not that great. First off, it was hard to understand for most of the time because everyone was either British or African. Very hard to hear what they were saying. Secondly, it was just a slow plot. The cover bills it as a suspense movie, or a thriller. Yeah right. You want to see a thriller, watch the movie with the girl from the bus (thank you, Frank Costanza) about the Internet. THAT's a thriller. Scared Christy to death, and that was way back in like '96 or something. Well, I'm no film critic, but I'd rather have watched the movie with the Friends girl than this one. However, I AM a goal-oriented person, and I will continue on my quest...

    Here's a brief update:

25 Movies to Watch Before Oscar Night
    --The Ones Daniel Has Seen
    3 - Crash
    5 - Munich
    6 - Walk the Line
    7 - Cinderella Man (1/2 before I fell asleep)
    10-The Constant Gardner
    17-King Kong
22-The 40 Year-Old Virgin (the first 30 minutes before walking out)
    25-The Chronicles of Narnia

See a previous post to get the complete list. I will be adding as I watch...

I guess this is what people do that have no jobs.

The last time this happened I created a database for my Seinfeld episodes. I had a pretty thorough system. Good thing they're coming out on DVD.

  • AAAHHHHHH!!! How did you fall asleep on Cinderella Man????!!?? AARGHGHGHHGHG . . .

  • 22-The 40 Year-Old Virgin (the first 30 minutes before walking out)

Okay, that does NOT count. Take it off the list now!

    7 - Cinderella Man (1/2 before I fell asleep)

How'd you fall asleep in that??

  • Mike's right. Totally does not count.

I have this to say about 40-Year-Old Virgin... yes, totally gross. Yes, over the top humor. But it's probably the ONLY MOVIE I have seen in the past several years... maybe even more than that... where the main characters make a point to wait until their wedding night to have sex. I'm just sayin...

Call me if you get an interview and I'll give you some tips. Oh, and by the way, if you get this job, you are so not allowed to tell people that I blog at work.

  • NOO! It's not slow . . . *sigh* ;)

  • uh...I kind of hintd to my mom that the breadsticks would go PERFECTLY with the gourmet lasagna she's making.  I hope she takes the hint.  I may just have to call and say it is my one and only birthday request.  oh, that and "can 30 gazillion people come over for my birthday???"  :)   I'm excited you guys are coming.........

oh and there's a hot tub/jacuzzi/i never know the "right"-word-to-call-it.  bring the bathing suits!!!  if you wanna.....

  • Well Daniel, I hope you and Christy still come down and visit us....maybe with Al!!!  I hope that works out for this summer!  Still praying for ya!

  • JD & I loved Cinderella Man.  Can't believe you fell asleep in it - you must have been up for 3 solid days, right?  :o )  And I'm sorry, but I just can't muster up any interest in most of those movies.  So, since you aren't working right now, I would've thought I would've gotten a reply to my EM about Spirit West Coast.  So what's up?

  • How did you fall asleep in Cinderella Man???  That was the best movie I saw in 2005...

  • Sorry man, I'm not in my office today. Try calling the main # and asking for Jamie... and you better hurry it up!!!
