THE APPRENTICE
So planning for these events with the MPC&O has really stretched me and, I think, made me a better leader. Wow. It must be an experience thing. But here’s the deal, I’m an EXTREMELY organized person. Walk into my office (90% of the time) and you’ll see order. Right now there is a little bit of chaos because of my wife’s insanity and the three shows she is directing, and it makes me a little batty, but I ignore it ‘cause I know it’s going away soon. Right dear?
Anyways, back on track- “Lack of organization is lack of leadership”. Yeah, that’s straight from Donald Trump’s mouth. And let me tell you this, I learn a LOT about leadership and business from watching The Apprentice. As funny as that sounds, it’s true. I actually have changed the way I do things because of some mistakes I’ve seen those idiots make on that show. I’ve really learned from it. Seriously. If you’re paying attention, there’s a lot to learn…
So, I’ve actually viewed organizing these concerts like I’m the Project Manager on a task for the Trumpster. Yes, you’re laughing right now. And as dumb as that sounds, it really works. Our concert on Saturday was a success, and all of the glory goes to God for that! I think it would’ve been a little more stressful and rocky, though, had I not been as prepared and organized. And there were times when I seriously said to myself, “I better handle this detail, or double-check this” because of the things I’ve seen fall through the cracks on some of the tasks on Apprentice. Details that got the PM’s fired…I can hear it now
“But this was a SALES task, and you just didn’t sell. In fact, sales actually DECLINED 33% because of you. You’re all fired. ALL FOUR ARE FIRED. Go on, get out of here.” – TrumpThank you Mr. Trump. Fa la Fa la, la la la la, The Apprentice.

Ahhh Darrell Hammond…..
Let me do it again and watch this one closely because it’s gonna be good!
Fa la Fa la, la la la la, The Apprentice.
Dude, we should totally say that. It’d be the best song ever!
I totally here ya on looking at the task as the PM….Fa la Fa la, la la la la, The Apprentice
LOL — go ahead… say it… “Donna – You’re Fired!”
HAAAAAAAAA! I wish I had more time to laugh about that…..I so had to take those little rascals to recess.
about celebrate christmas…I better be careful, I think Scott Douglas reads your blog! just kidding, I’ll be honest. So robert said it was going to be phenom, huh? He actually sat behind/diagonal from me for part of the first half and was kind of laughing under his breath during a few of the songs…oh wait…that was because BRENDA REINEBACH came out in a RED EVENING GOWN and a WHITE FEATHER BOA WITH BATTERY_POWERED LIGHTS EMBEDDED IN IT and was THE SOLOIST during the men’s chorale performance of Jingle Bells (arr. Hayes)….which made me almost break my face from laughing so hard. really though. she was so, theatrical. and she was in front of 70 dapper young men in tuxedos…..she just……..I dont’ know……you totally had to be there. she was livin’ it up, to say the least. QUITE entertaining. As far as the other UCO/MC/BC/HANDBELLS/JAZZBAND stuff, it was good. I haven’t been to any concerts where I haven’t been playing yet, so I’m still getting the wierdies, just because I”m only listening. too much organ. although it helped to balance out Bel Canto. LOOOOOOOOOOVED this peice by Dr. Fun(derberk) and ….ah! what’s his name?! just blanked. amazing violinist……? anyway, they arranged it, sang with MC. what else? didn’t like betelehemu SATB. needs to be guys only. with the girls, you couldn’t hear the guys. HA! they had Marvin McKissick do a narration…. of COURSE…with his great deep narratory voice. ok, Iv’e talked too much. oh and they did Spirit of the Season. more voices = better…..or maybe they know the music better. could be. You picked a lot of hard songs for our choir, daniel. Definitely more challenging rep…..UCO did a few (5? I dont’ know) repeats. ok, that’s all……I’ll probably remember more funny stuff that happened, but right now, the highlight would have to be the reinebach cameo appearance…….
fa la, fa la, la la la la…….I need to see it.
oh and I saw THE OTHERS’ legs today, when Jin and Shadow or whatever were hiding in the bushes. ECHO! his name is Echo.
for melsmells: Alex Russell. And one of my high schools is doing the same “Variations on Jingle Bells”, and we’re gonna have Mrs. R come and reprise her role. How crazy is that, I’ll be accompanying her at a school that Daniel used to work at!
for dsemsen: haha, you had me going there for a while. My only theory was that Bethany Ballenger sent it to me, and that the people on the return address were friends of hers or something. Not that that would have made any sense, but it was all I had to go on.
Cool, well, I haven’t listened to more than a track or two, but it sounds like good stuff. I know Blessed be Your Name, and probably some others. I’ll have to listen.
Thanks for clearing up my confusion.
Mel, it’s Eko, not Echo. If you read the Lost message boards, you would know that. And if I read the Lost message boards, I am a nerd. So yes, I am a nerd.
Dan, you better be an organized person if you are going to work at APU. Have you sent in your application? I put in a good word for you the other day, so the people over in that department are waiting for your app. And by the way, if you get hired, I get a $50 American Express gift certificate, and if you stay for a year, I get an engraved watch. Too bad I don’t wear watches.
So I’m coming down to SD on Friday night… let’s all go see Narnia at 12:01! Come on!! Please?
LOL/ I had to laugh!!! That is cool that you have learned from the show, though. There is definately much to be learned from others’ experiences and Trump has alot of business and leadership knowledge.
I’d better get organized and start watching the apprentice!!!
Dang it. Day off. Are you going at 12:01 on Thursday/Friday? Luckyyyy! (in Napoleon Dynamite voice)
Um, I would wait until Thursday or Friday and then call the department directly to ask if they got the app.
So apparently I need to bring warm clothes and clothespins for this weekend, yes? Heidi and Heodi Simone do NOT like playing outside in the cold, by the way.
What else? Ummmmm… oh yeah. Dave Tak and Jon Mann both rule. And you probably don’t want to hear this, but your brother-in-law has extremely nice legs. And he’ll probably hit me for telling you that. But I can’t help it, it’s true. Don’t hide your legs from the world, Jon.
^ sick and wrong. TMI. TMI.
Really? He generally hides them and they were always very white…
are we really blogging about Jon Mann’s legs? he better read this…..
FUNNY!
No, I’m serious! Check out his legs sometime.
Let me tell you the story so maybe you will think I’m less weird. Sophomore year, my friends and I were in a mod, and Jon Mann came over because he lived right across the way. He was probably going to warn us about naked hour, and trust me, we appreciated the warning. Anyway, I guess he had been running or something, because he was wearing shorts, and as soon as he walked in the door all of our eyes immediately turned to his legs and we said, pretty much in unison, “Jon Mann! We had no idea you had such hot legs!” The end.
Survivor – yay! Yay for Tivo! Heidi is no longer angered.
For the record, I didn’t realize my legs were still a topic of discussion. But yes, they’re real and they’re spectacular
Yay for stealing lines from Seinfeld!! Although it is a bit disturbing that you are comparing your legs to Teri Hatcher’s… girls.
PM- I’m reading this blog as I am watching the Trumpster. And it’s Rebecca vs. Randall. Go Rebecca! Go Randall!
I’m learning all the time too….too bad I can’t seem to get my attitude in check sometimes..o ya suppose it’s the MONSTER energy drinks?
