  • Ahh...the tastes of fall...STARBUCKS Pumkin Spice Latte has been around for a couple of weeks now and it's delightful!
    Oh yeah, and STARBUCKS also gave me two of their old outdoor chairs that they were going to throw away...they now proudly adorn my office.

    Luke 9-12

    9"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
    11"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

    So, God answers prayer. I know that-but Jesus is saying it here almost like, "if you guys would just ask..." like "duh". So let's ask--but also Jesus says in the passages before that to ASK PERSISTENTLY-not just once...but continue asking. How much more will your Father give you the HOLY SPIRIT? That's a great promise. Probably one of the reasons worship has been pretty good lately is largely due to the amount of prayer that has been going on in the Worship and Creative Arts ministry...we have been praying before the services each week, before our practices, during our practices (in our Barnabas teams) and others have been praying throughout the week. Thank you Lord for pouring out your Holy Spirit!
    BTW-it's obviously God's power that has been making our services great-not anything else anyone's done.

    27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."
    28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

    I love the way Jesus cuts straight to what is important. None of that complimenting stuff--just OBEY GOD. That's great. Jesus has a way of cutting right to the heart of the issue. Going straight for the JUGULAR (as Baloin would say).

  • question, how often do you go to starbucks?  i don't know you may be a little addicted.  that is all i am saying.  just adress your problem.  plus coffee bean and tea leaf is way better...

  • Speaking of asking God... we have been joining in prayer every morning, seeking God's blessings on Midway persistently. Feel free to join us anytime. Things are happening. There is definately a component of spirtitual warfare going on since we started, but it means our prayers are being heard! Satan fights only when threatened.

  • Starbucks is so much friendlier than Coffee Bean, though.  I'm not at all biased about it.  ;)   I could probably get you free coffee, but shipping it to you would be kinda weird.  :)
