I just watched the trailer for Michael W. Smith's movie coming out in February, 2006. Hmm..I don't know how I feel about this. Smitty's is pretty good about doing this with excellence, but the latest "Christian" movies have really sucked. It actually pains me to watch something so dreary like Left Behind, and know that it doesn't measure up to what the newest summer blockbuster will be...if anything, movies made FOR God should honor God with how good they are, and should be 10 times as good as anything Fox or Paramount or Pixar will put out. Unfortunately, they haven't been... "Christian" movies often just seem trite to me, and with all the bad press Christians are getting right now it just doesn't seem like a good time to churn out some below-par entertainment. I guess we'll see...

The thing that gives me hope about the Smitty movie is that Steve Taylor is behind it, and if you know Steve Taylor at all you know that he is not one of those guys who'd ever put out a Left Behind-like film and be happy about it. The movie may not end up Oscar-worthy, but darn it if Taylor won't be at least shooting for just that.
I'm with ya Daniel on the trailor...but there is always hope!
If they do as if "Unto the Lord" it will be oscar worthy. But I guess we will just have to wait and see.
Let's see how it is.... I'll go see it. I do agree with you that most Christian movies have been under par, but I think it;s because it's hard to get the good movie people behind them to work on them. The Passion was good, but that's about the only one I can think of. Left Behind was lame, I agree. Of course, I thought the books were even lamer.
From one Lion to the other...
Ooh, that movie looks fun- I would like to see it.
