  • The ants are back! I guess it's that time of year, and I knew this was coming-and oh, how I've dreaded it, and prepared for it all year long--I found a lot of ants in Nathaniel's bathroom. ARGH!

    Back to Jesus in Mark:

    Day 7 (Mark 4:1-20)
Jesus at this time in his ministry was very POPULAR among the common people. Jesus went through phases in his 3-year ministry. At the beginning he was obscure and unknown, followed by a time when he was very popular and did many miracles, and then followed by a time near the end when he set His eyes on the cross and began to withdraw a lot to pray by himself or with his disciples--this last time was also the time when His popularity was fading and we see more that religous leaders were trying to kill him. It is a nice arc over the three years....at the beginning of this chapter it says that a very large crowd gathered to hear him preach, so much so that he had to get in a boat on the lake.

    Day 8 (Mark 4:21-41)
Here we find that Jesus is the LORD OF ALL CREATION. Not only in this passage is Jesus doing more teaching (but I already used teacher!) but we also see the instance where Jesus calms the storm on the water. I love the last part of the passage: "They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"
Well--He's the LORD OF ALL CREATION!

    Day 9 (Mark 5:1-20)
Here we see Jesus as our DELIVERER. The story of Jesus casting the legion of demons out of a possessed man and into 2000 pigs, who then run off the hillside and drown themselves in the sea. Wow. I mean, if Jesus can deliver a couple-thousand demons out of a guy who was extremely volitale and feared by the people that lived around him, don't you think He can deliver you from whatever pain and problems you are going through? This passage is really cool because Jesus not only heals this guy, but he does it at the cost of his own popularity in this town. The townsfolk come out and ask him to leave because all the pigs killed themselves and they're pretty upset! They don't want anything else like that going on--but Jesus didn't care. He was and still is in the business of being our deliverer, He can deliver you!

Be praying that Al's daughter-in-law has her baby, NOW!!! So he can come to A Summer's Night.

  • Maybe Al's a Calvinist. So the baby, then, is pre-destined to be born at whatever time it is pre-destined to be born. Which means there's really nothing any of us can do about it, A Summer's Night coming up or not.

    Darn Calvinism....

  • Yea Daniel anytime I read about that guy and the pigs all I can hear them saying is:  "Hey, who's gonna pay for those pigs!"...with a Japanese accent no less!  Can I get a witness Val!
