  • Nathaniel had a bad dream last night. Christy went in to his room to give him a hug, and asked him what happened. He said that in his dream Super Mario was yelling at him! Bad Super Mario!

    Great choir practice last night! I am excited about this event. The MPC+MPO was awesome! yay!

  • Yeah, I fixed that sprinkler head. It’s perfect. It never worked better. I’m the bomb sprinkler fixer. I’ve even been inspecting the other sprinkler heads around our house now. “Hm…this one’s flow trajectory is off by approximately 10 degrees north by north-west, and the flow rate on this head is far too slow compared with the pressure of the vector of the south-east parsec of the…” (trailing off). Ok. Let’s not overdo it.

    Oh-I fixed my iTunes, also. It was playing everything all distorted and fuzzy. I fixed it. Yay! And I used my two free downloads (from slurpee cups) to buy and Enya tune (from yesteryear “along time ago last night on Sunday” as Nathaniel would say) and this track from The Terminal soundtrack. Ah, John Williams…

    Love these scriptures.
    ————-
    1 Praise the LORD.
    Praise the name of the LORD;
    praise him, you servants of the LORD,

    2 you who minister in the house of the LORD,
    in the courts of the house of our God.

    3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good;
    sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

    5 I know that the Lord is great,
    that our Lord is greater than all gods.

    13 Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
    Your renown, O Lord, through all generations.

    19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD;
    O house of Aaron, praise the LORD;

    20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD;
    you who fear him, praise the LORD.

    21 Praise be to the LORD from Zion,
    to him who dwells in Jerusalem.
    Praise the LORD.

    ————
    It’s just like such a massive commandment to Praise the Lord. Not an option–a command, and it’s all through the Psalms.

    So how can I praise the Lord today?

    How can you?

  • I spent an hour or so trying to fix a sprinkler in the front yard. That is SO not my thing. I did pretty well considering I had to dig up all this dirt and stuff and unscrew the thing, and then the new sprinkler head I had was too short. I have to buy an extender at Home Depot first thing in the morning so I can fix the darn thing once and for all…

    Saw Bewitched tonight. Y’all know I’m a HUGE Will Farrell fan, and so I was pleased once again. I love Will Farrell. This was not his best movie so far, but was still really funny in some parts, and definately memorable. WF’s antics are just hilarious…I love his sense of humor, he is just so funny to watch. I give it 1 1/2 thumbs up–regardless of the witchiness…that was the only midly disturbing part of the whole thing, but Thank God, they never dwelled on any part of it that was, like, evil or dark in any way. All fun and games…not that I’m advocating witches or anything….

  • It’s 6:18AM on a Sunday, and some dude just started mowing the lawn next door. I was already awake, I just don’t know about anyone else in the neighborhood…

  • Having some more ice cream…yummy! This flavor is the tastiest ever! I’ve decided that I have an indulgent, addictive, obessive personality. Not that any of that is bad, in fact, it can make for a very passionate person as well. OH, and I can be passionate about stuff. Ever wanna talk about leadership? or Macs?

    Finished my arranging for that job due this morning. I was falling asleep on the keyboard at the very end…hopefully everything sounds OK…(how did THAT note get there???)

    I also played for a very interesting wedding. I really like the couple that got married, I’m hoping we hook up soon and hang out. They were like, “Hey, if that song goes on too long we’re just gonna start playing rock-paper-scissors up here…”. Hilarious!!!

    Christy did a great job singing “Inside Your Heaven”. And I think I’ve had enough of that song, although, for a wedding, it seemed to work out pretty well! A new wedding song!!

  • Well. Today was quite the day.
    Last night I was up ’til almost 3AM working on arranging. Got up today about 7:30, did my devos and went back to arranging til noon. Went to see an old college buddy’s student choir that is touring right now and happened to be in Seaport Village. We had lunch with them and hung out and talked for a long time about ministry and stuff. It was fun. Lots of “did you know so-and-so is finally getting married…or just had a baby…etc..” it was hilarious-and cool to connect again.

    Ok-then after that is was back to arranging ’til I had to go to a wedding rehearsal at 6:30PM, all along Christy is transcribing “Inside Your Heaven” to sing at this same wedding (which happens to be at 9AM on Saturday, a really weird time). Came home, had a bite to eat and played with the kids for a minute while practicing the above song w/Christy for the wedding which is now in less than 12 hours (and will probably be over by the time you read this), and I am back to arranging again…on a side note, this arranging gig is due tomorrow morning, that’s why the long hours. Oh well, I love it. I love arranging. Even though it is hard to do sometimes with my schedule and without the satisfaction that comes from hearing the end product, I still love it.

    Oh yeah, so our friend’s parents were buddies with Keith Green. AND they do all the practice vocal tracks for Celeste Clydesdale’s kids musicals (not the finished product, but the demo to send to Nashville and to give to the studio singer-kids who eventually record the project). Isn’t that the coolest!?!?!?!

    Oh yeah-and I’ve had WAY more ice cream today than any individual should consume in a 24-hour period. It was so tasty! But, I won’t be doing that again….

  • A tremendous whirlwhind is swirling all around…so many events and appointments…it is incredible to be in the eye of a storm when God’s peace surrounds you and says “I’ve got it under control, don’t worry.”

    ———
    Psalm 125:1-2
    Those who trust in the Lord are like
    Mount Zion,
    which cannot be shaken but
    endures forever.
    As the mountains surround
    Jerusalem,
    so the Lord surrounds his people
    both now and forevermore.
    ———

    Do you hear that? If I trust in the Lord, I will not be shaken by the weird stuff going on all the time around me. No stress, no pressure, no constraint. I will not be shaken.

    ———
    Psalm 62:1-2, 5-6
    My soul finds rest in God alone;
    my salvation comes from him.
    He alone is my rock and my
    salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will never be
    shaken.

    Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
    my hope comes from Him.
    He alone is my rock and my
    salvation;
    He is my fortress, I will not be
    shaken.
    ——–

    I will not be shaken.

    Preparations for July 4th and Summer’s Night are going well. Choir practice last night was difficult for me, personally. Being bound by a click track in that environment is a very obtrusive thing, yet the overall end result of using that type of DVD media in that type of venue is such a good thing that I decided to do it again…but it made things HARD last night. I feel like everyone felt that. THANK YOU MPC and MPO for working SO hard to make that happen. You are the bomb!

    On that note: I have never been so blessed by the Midway Praise Choir as I am now. The special music “Draw Me Nearer” that we did on Sunday was by far the best our group has EVER sounded. It was mind-blowing. I don’t know where that group came from…amazing. Musically, it was very fulfilling-which is something that I don’t get very often (please don’t take that as being arrogant, not my intention, just being honest). BTW- not a slam on the choir either-you guys constantly suprise and dazzle me with all the work you put in outside of practice. THank you. I hope that this train never stops-but just keeps on going, picking up folks along the way for the ride. And what a ride it is…

    …there is nothing like singing in worship to our Heavenly Father. Nothing.

  • Psalm 119:171-172, 175-176
    ——————
    171 May my lips overflow with praise,
    for you teach me your decrees.

    172 May my tongue sing of your word,
    for all your commands are righteous.

    ——————

    175 Let me live that I may praise you,
    and may your laws sustain me.

    176 I have strayed like a lost sheep.
    Seek your servant,
    for I have not forgotten your commands.

    ——————-

    Did you guys know that sheep are never attacked in herds? Sheep are attacked when they get seperated from the herd and are alone. It’s kinda like what happens when people get disconnected from church or their small group, or from their meaningful relationships that help steer them back to truth. We lose all perspective when we get alone, we get more selfish, and we often become prone to attacks…

    I miss our small group! It’s been a while since we’ve met! I’m looking forward to starting our new study “Experiencing Christ Together”.

    Also- You guys can pray for me that I find balance (still) and that the Lord guides me in all this arranging that I am doing. Sometimes it is tough, and even a little overwhelming. Pray that I get stuff done and use my time wisely, and that I still have time for my family as well.

  • Wow!
    I am still reeling from the most excellent-ness of the movie BATMAN BEGINS. It was spectacular! This movie was riveting from beginning to end! Amazing story and casting–and I couldn’t have asked for more! I am totally floored by the things this movie did…it has definately revived the dead Batman franchise…everyone is already signed on for two more movies-and the end of this one leads right into a sequal…I am so excited!!
    Go NOW and see this movie-it will knock your socks off!!
    I’m still reeling…

    Psalm 119:130
    The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it gives understanding to the simple.

  • On Sunday, I arrived to work bright and early @ 7AM, and to my dismay, I found a spider had crawled into my monitor. For some reason bugs can crawl into my monitor through these heat vents in the back. They then make their way down the legs of the monitor (which are clear and plastic) and sit down there staring at me-or worse, they die. So there’s a spider in my monitor, yuck.

    After church was over, I go back into my office to grab my keys and a note was left sticking to the leg of the monitor outside right where the spider was. It read:

    “Help me Daniel, you’re my only hope.”
    -The Spider

    I don’t know how, but the next day, the spider was gone.
