  • Wow-still reeling from the APU concert at Midway on WED night. It was an incredibly stressful day, probably because I was not as prepared as I should have been to accomodate the group. But, inspite of my unpreparedness, the concert went off without a hitch (except that I forgot to pray before the offering..."hey, we're going to take an offering. Um..ok..."). I hope that you all had a great time housing the choir and orchestra members, and were blessed by the concert. I most certainly was!!!

It is not every day that I GET TO CONDUCT APU UCO!! Wow-that was a thrill !!! I wasn't nervous, I thought, but I noticed that my hands were shaking mid-way through the song...I tell you, I was honored. Thank you Rod!! I'm still replaying those few moments in my head over and over again...and the really cool thing is that some people from the choir said that I reminded them of Al Clifft. Which, I must say, is props to Al for teaching me so well.

My Thusday just flew by. It was over and I barely thought I had lived it...I was up since before 6AM, but by the time 11PM came around, I barely felt like Thursday even happened.

Weird thing--I knew at least 4-5 people in UCO. Which is strange because it has been 4 full years since I graduated, so ANYONE I knew should be long gone...but there was a sister of someone, a friend of my little brother, a couple of kids that I knew from playing piano at their high school, and good ole Scott, who is a super-fantastic guy...and so on...
Wish I had heard one of your arrangements scott!!! Oh well, get it recorded or something.

Another weird thing...so the APU UCO had been in Mexico for 3 days prior to coming to San Diego, and so before they leave our church THUR morning, they are having a time of sharing. I overhear one girl's story as I am putting the piano cover back on, and she is talking about this lady she met in Mexico that ministers to women in prison that has red hair and whose name is "Happy". I was totally like, I KNOW THAT PERSON!!! I GREW UP WITH HER KIDS AND HER FAMILY AT MY HOME CHURCH!!--in Twain Harte, no less...She was totally talking about Happy Dean!! How crazy!! So weird...but you know...six degrees of seperation...I'm finding that thing more and more true as time goes on...

Less than a week until the end of all that is Star Wars...but for now, I'm gonna see the new Will Farrell movie!!

Kendra will be the next Apprentice.

  • YAY! Wish I could have been there too. :) Glad it was such a good time.

  • I cannot even express how much I enjoyed the concert. I was 15 minutes late and once I got there and listened for awhile I was bummed I missed any of it. What TONE. I don't think I have heard such excellent tone in any choir. It was a blessing, and although I did get a CD, it isn't the same as hearing a good choir live... not even close. I was very proud of you, Daniel as you got up to direct! How awesome that you and Christy were and are a part of something so excellent. I hope they come back and sing again.

  • I think I would be the "sister of someone" that you were referring to.  :)   I found your xanga on Mary Cumming's one.  Oh, by the way, Kathy says "hi"   :P
