That was Baby Noah typing....and now he's mad 'cause I took him away...but things are OK, cause now he found the piano. What a nice song he's playing!!! (I think it's in C major...HAHAHAHA)...ok that's only funny if you know that basically he can only reach the white notes on the piano...ok, maybe it's not that funny...oh well..

So Mary tells me that she (and perhaps a couple of my other string-playing friends)  played for John Williams last year...WHAT!?!? That guy has been one of the most influential composers for me in my musical journey. I love his orchestrations-his film scores are marvelous! He has written some of the most memorable themes of the 20th Century...Who doesn't know the Star Wars theme-Indiana Jones, ET, Jurassic Park...or even more recently-Harry Potter? I mean, this dude's a genius! I am soo jealous...

We're in Chico-it's pretty up here. Rained more on the way up...sun is shining today. Mike misses us. That's nice...Mike, you should NOT move to Kansas. San Diego does not suck, it only sucks for you because you don't have a roomate, which leaves things quite pricey...and let me tell you-I've been to Kansas, it is NO O.C.

    Time for breakfast!!

  • Yes, we were all (Me, Livesays, Quinn and another grad student that I don't think you know) contracted by Dave Tak****** to play for the Debut Symphony's Gala event (we have all been a part of Debut at some point), and the special guest was John Williams himself. We played Star Wars, ET, Indiana Jones, Summon the Heroes, Schindler's List, Cello Elegy, and some other piece that I can't remember. Dude, it was soo trippy to be sitting there with him two feet away from me, conducting his music when I've admired and dreamed of meeting him my whole life. At the end of the night, Nolan and I were just sort of standing there like . . . wow . . . what just happened. Haha, I kind of look like that in my picture with him too, like, What is going on, I'm really freaked out. :) Lisa Vroman, lead on Broadway of Christine in Phantom, also sang with us. It was a completely wonderful experience, and Mr. Williams was incredibly gracious to us poor people, in spite of our stuttering attempts to express our admiration for him. So there you go!! Ask more questions if you have them . . . I love talking about it.

  • Yeah, I know Dave, he's manager of Debut so I see him almost every day this week, and often around school. He's Professor Takahashi now and it's hilarious 'cause all the freshmen are like, "You are friends with Professor Takahashi?? You can't be friends with a professor". Dave is one of my favorite people. :)

  • kind of off subject - but ooooh, can i borrow that book when you are done? :)

  • Sounds like you're having fun. My son is taking piano lessons. Pretty good, for age 12, but he's only willing to invest some of his time for practice or he'd really be good.

  • Baby Noah is a master typer.

    And piano player.
