  • I am sure a lot of you are wondering why there is a picture of Galadriel (from Lord of the Rings) on my blog. Here's the deal-I like LOTR and when I took this LOTR personality test (it was like, "see what character from the movie you are the most like"...) and I was thinking that I would be like Frodo, or Sam--but no, I'm like Galadriel, the Elf goddess or whatever she is...

    Our church signed up for 40 Days of Community-a follow up program to the incredible 40 Days of Purpose we did about a year and a half ago. I am positive 40Days of Community will be tremendous. I can't wait! I heard the opening message at the Saddleback conference (I'm pretty sure that's what it was) and was really inspired. For some reason, IT JUST MAKES SENSE--and God hangs out quite a bit over there at Saddleback.... ------COMING IN OCTOBER

    God is so patient, isn't He?
    Revelation 3:20
    "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

    God waits for us to ask before He pours out His blessings on us.
    God waits for us to surrender to Him before He leads us to the right places.
    God waits for us to seek Him before He reveals Himself to us.
    But every time we ask, seek, or surrender-He is there. He is so kind and patient. And I just envision God not being like, "It's about time!", but more like, "ahhhh, I'm so glad you asked! Here..."

    Not that God is our puppet or anything. His plans are always different than our plans-and surrender means just that-giving up our plans for His, but I just was amazed at God's patience today, and I wanted to share that...

  • I too love LOTR - I read all of the books to my boys - the books that I saved from my childhood.  Though at first I was afraid to see the movies.  Somehow movies don't even come close to the images I have rendered in my imagination :) BTW - I was Frodo in the personality test!  Galadriel is much more elegant!!

    God is the perfect Father!  He loves for us to be ready to understand what he is giving to us.  I am sure there are plenty of times when He shakes his head in love at us with a "What are those crazy kids doing???" kind of a look in His eyes...

    I CAN'T WAIT for 40 days of Community!! - I was in the hospital for 40 Days of Purpose and really missed the group experience.

     

  • Hmm...our church did the 40 Days of Purpose thing last year. Twas good actually. Not all that faddy as one would think.

    And Mikie, 40 Days of Pizza Eating sounds good. Except that after that, we'll probably have to have 40 Days of Working Out...

    Thank you so much for reminding me of God's patience. I really needed the reminder.

  • oh yes the 40 day thing. it seems like every church is having something to do with that.

    the picture is great... those movies were amazing :)
