  • Fantastic job Midway Praise Choir!

    I thought it was a really cool event that we did! Not only did it take us out of our normal environment (Sunday morning church) but it gave a lot of people a chance to hang out and connect while we were waiting to perform–something that doesn’t normally happen on it’s own. I thought it was cool-and if you missed it, you missed out!!! Go MPC!!

    Excerpts from: Psalm 90
    ——
    14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

    17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;
    establish the work of our hands for us–
    yes, establish the work of our hands.
    ——

    I see singing connected with joy in the Psalms quite a bit. It is a fun thing, singing…I think that the best times of singing for joy are when you are able to block out the world and focus on God alone. He is the giver of joy–and a lot of times I don’t allow Him to give it to me ’cause I’m holding onto anger or selfishness or pride. It’s vicious…

    Kids Choir performance tomorrow!!!

    Star Wars is out in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS!!!!

  • I just installed MAC OS X “Tiger” on my computer and it is really rockin!! I love it!
    I downloaded some extra widgets that are really fun… I love Tiger!!!

  • There’s a new INCREDIBLES phone out now. It is pretty cool looking…

    I’ve already received an email with a tracking number for the package that has MAC OS X “Tiger” in it. I pre-ordered it, so it’s coming ON the release date (Friday, 4/29). I really can’t wait!!!

    I slept horribly last night–which is very irregular for me…the only thing I can think of is that I had a Frappuccino at around 8PM that might have kept me up-but all night?? C’mon!!! It was rough, and I wasn’t going to get much sleep anyways…my body feels like it did in college when I’d pull an all-nighter or get only 2 hours sleep. Ya know-that weird tingly, not-really-all-there feeling. Ugh…

    I must report that last night’s American Idol was a little bit shocking…

    I must also report that last night’s Midway Praise Orchestra practice was the best one ever!! With one or two people missing, we still had 14 players. Now, I’m no numbers man-but let me say this: There was a guy that came (Frank) who played trumpet with us at Easter time (a pro player) that was the bomb!!!! As you may know, anytime professionals come and play with our group, EVERYONE in the group plays better. It’s like when you have a really good soccer player join your team all of a sudden, and everyone just rises to the occasion and starts scoring goals…This dude totally lead the orchestra in terms of quality. It was an absolutely fantastic experience! Go Frank!! You helped our whole orchestra play better! Praise the Lord!! Both Christy and I were just on top of the world after that practice–man, I LOVE good orchestra music…wowsers…

    Psalm 88 was another one of David’s laments from the pit…if you are in the pit right now, read it…otherwise, check out some excerpts from Psalm 89:

    ————–
    1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever;
    with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
    2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
    that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

    5 The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD,
    your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
    6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ?
    Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
    7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
    he is more awesome than all who surround him.
    8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you?
    You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

    15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
    who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.
    16 They rejoice in your name all day long;
    they exult in your righteousness.
    17 For you are their glory and strength,
    and by your favor you exalt our horn.

    52 Praise be to the Lord forever!
    Amen and Amen.

  • Gotta check out the trailer for the new Batman movie–it is going to be incredible! I say perhaps better than any that has come before it…and that’s big for me-especially since I actually still have a Batman chip from 1989. Yes, an original corn chip from a bag of Batman chips from the year 1989. This is by far one of the most priceless, unique things on this planet. It could be worth millions. And there is no mold or decay. But hey, just check out the trailer-cause I’ll never let you see my chip…

    oh yeah- so just another perspective, I’ve had this chip since I was 9 years old. If you ask nicely, i might post a picture….

  • Psalm 87 was a little weird…

    I’m lagging a little today…time for some STARBUCKS!!!

    I talked with the new manager over there, he is getting his MDIV right now, and has a 3-year-old he wants to put in out pre-school. I thought it was cool, it was my first time to really talk with him for a few minutes since the prior manager left for El Centro. (yuck)

  • Good small group last night-we’re having more and more people come…not that more people makes it better, but the topic and discussion was good. I just hope that people are growing and ACTING on their growth as a result of what we are learning in our group studies, ’cause it’s GREAT stuff.

    Excerpts from Psalm 86
    ———–
    11 Teach me your way, O LORD ,
    and I will walk in your truth;
    give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
    12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;
    I will glorify your name forever.
    13 For great is your love toward me;
    you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.

    15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
    slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
    16 Turn to me and have mercy on me;
    grant your strength to your servant
    ———–

    Boy, some of these Psalms just hit the mark, right on the money! Others, I don’t identify with quite as much…

    I need your strength today, Lord. Grant me wisdom.

  • Dudes-
    I got a GREAT Entertainment Weekly yesterday. It was the Summer Movie Preview–it had some fantastic info on over 130 movies coming out this summer. I got excited about several ones I’ve been looking forward to, (i.e. Star Wars, Batman Begins, War of the Worlds, to name a few). If you don’t know, Summer movie-going makes up %40 of revenue for the entire year for movie-makers, so summer movies are always the biggest and best! (exception for LOTR, and a couple of others…). Well, anyway, reading the magazine was delightful!

    Worship team auditions were a success! I’m happy to see what will happen with this team of vocalists. It will be fun!!!

    This Praise Adonai song is pretty catchy-especially the chorus…

    Look at this beautiful picture that is painted in Psalm 85:
    ———-
    10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
    11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
    ———-

    I thought that was a unique visual image that I haven’t found much elsewhere in the Bible…

    I took a survey of the current favorite worship songs in the Midway Praise Choir. I asked to list their top five favorites, in no particular order. I tallied (ok, Christy tallied) the votes, and here are the top results, again, with no order, just simply tallied by the number of people that put it on their list:

    #1 – In Christ Alone (11 votes)
    #2 – Sing to the King (10)
    #3 – How Great is Our God (9)
    #4 – Here I Am to Worship (8)
    #5 – All About Love, Above All, Pour My Love on You, and Blessed Be Your Name (4-way tie with 7 votes each)
    #6 – You Are Holy, Agnus Dei, and You Are Good (6 each)
    #7 – My Redeemer Lives, Let My Words Be Few, and Only A God Like You (5 each)
    #8 – Days of Elijah, Calling Out to You, We Fall Down, Trading My Sorrows, Word of God Speak (4 each)

    and there were several more with three or less votes. Good job folks, thanks for the feedback. I was a little disturbed when I found out that none of the songs on this list were on the worship set for this past Sunday…hmmm….

  • Star Wars, Episode III comes out on May 19th.

    That’s less than a month away.

    I’ll be there with my buddy, Mike, at 12:01 AM.

    I already bought the tickets.

    Where will you be??
