  • Psalm 40: 8
I desire to do your will O my God; Your law is within my heart.
    ——
Seemse like those things go hand in hand. I can’t really think of a day that goes by where my life goal changes from wanting to do God’s will, but God’s will is not just seen in the big life decisions like where to minister, where to live, etc…it is shown in the daily decision to love others and show Christ to everyone around you. I know for sure that if I am not meditating on God’s law (getting to read the BIble) in a day, that my focus quickly turns to myself. It’s a dangerous trap-selfishness.

I love Starbucks. I love Starbucks so much that I know about 80% of the employees’ (a.k.a. partners) names at the location nearest to my house. Derek joked a long time ago about it being my “ministry” so I really NEEDED to go to Starbucks…he’s a funny guy…but I actually have taken the opportunity to attempt to make friends with the folks over there. So much so that the Manager brought 3 other employees and came to our Christmas show. She also invited us to her going away party last night, because she is moving to Calexico to open a store there. I think we were the only non-Starbucks-employees (partners) there besides her parents. It was quite an honor. We signed her apron and everything…and today I am going to help her move out of her house for a couple of hours because Christy overheard her say she had a truck coming, but no one to help her move. It’s opportunities like this that you cannot pass up. It is one thing to tell someone that God loves them, or that God will help them in their tough times, and it is quite another to actually help them yourself-as God’s liason of His love. It is quite the honor-I don’t ever feel worthy, but I know that there are RARE opportunities to build relationships that are lasting and that can actually have an impact on people.

    Happy singing…

  • Amen brother… you have inspired me yet again. I know how hard it is to get people to help you move unless you pay them so I know that you will be rememberd and much appreciated! Your a good man Charlie Brown! And I know God is going to bless both you and her.        See ya tonight…

  • Hey, I haven’t had a chance to read your blog yet ’cause I’m so DANG busy, but the reason why I get to play for these conductors is because I’m a member of the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra, also known as Debut Symphony. Dave Tak is the manager of it, and let us know out here about the auditions, which I passed in August. John Williams was the special guest for the gala in October, and M.T.T. was the special guest for our Disney Hall performance. :) It’s such a great honor to be there, and sometimes I just really don’t know what to think about being there.
