  • A few days ago, I read in my devo book about prayer–about making it a priority. Something in that chapter REALLY stood out to me-it was a paragraph that talked about praying “in the moment”. When someone in your small group (for example) shares a concern, struggle, or hardship, to stop right then and pray for them, instead of maybe waiting until the designated prayer time. This is something I’d really like to do, but I actually felt this way a LONG time ago…

As a Music Pastor, I often get people sharing with me different things going on in their lives–and usually because they are going to (or already did) miss practice or something. “My dad is having surgery…” or “My kids have been really sick…” or whatever, and I think it might have been during 40 days of Purpose that I felt like it would be a really cool thing to do to pray for people whenever they shared things like this with me. Not say, “OK, I’ll pray for you”, but to actually STOP right there and pray for them, with them. I’m not even sure why I never implemented this plan. I don’t know if I felt silly, or what, but this is something I really want to do.

Yesterday, a few of the church staff and some of the volunteers that were helping out with the set painting of “A Time for Christmas” stopped to pray for a couple of folks from the cast who were sick. It was good. More praying is good…

On the lighter side, I just saw an ad for a new fragrance for men, “Donald Trump”. No, really-there is a D Trump cologne. The smartest thing Trump EVER did was sign with NBC for the Apprentice-it’s completely revamped his image in popular culture. The dude’s an icon.

Only saw 1/2 of the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey XMAS special. It was funny and a little corny. A couple of highlights–a spoof of The Apprentice, called “The Elf”, and 98 degrees sang–oooooh that was nice. I’ve never heard those guys before, but this a cappella xmas medley they did was spectacular. You rarely hear stuff like that ANYWHERE. As a musician, it was thrilling. Great harmonies, great blending, great! great! great!
Too bad if you missed it!

Also- a really great FREE video from www.sermonspice.com called “a brief history of Christmas”. Download it if you can, it’s great!
